Prince William ‘to be invited to ex-girlfriend’s wedding’

Britain's Prince William is to be invited to his ex-girlfriend's wedding.
The 33-year-old prince, who married the Duchess of Cambridge in 2011, is to receive an invite from first university girlfriend, Olivia Hunt, to her upcoming wedding.
A source told the Daily Mail newspaper: "A date hasn't been set yet, but the Cambridges will be on the guest list.
"William has stayed friends with Olivia."
However, it remains to be seen whether William will attend the wedding alongside the Duchess, who has been noticeably absent from a number of recent social engagements, prompting speculation she has made a conscious decision to spend more time at home with her family.
What's more, it's previously been suggested that the Duchess was jealous of Olivia - who's marrying 33-year-old barrister Nicholas Wilkinson - during their time at St Andrews University.
In 2007, a source said: "William was seeing Olivia when he met Kate, and when Kate came on the scene Olivia moved off pretty quickly.
"Kate was jealous of other girls at St Andrews."
Earlier this week, it was reported the Duchess had recently missed a friend's wedding, leaving Prince William to attend with sister-in-law Pippa Middleton.
She had been expected to attended the wedding of socialite Daisy Dickson and estate agent Bear Maclean, but ultimately did not.

Prince Harry visit ‘will help showcase good relations’

The visit of Britain's Prince Harry to South Africa will showcase "the wide range of co-operation" between the country and the UK.
The 30-year-old prince is heading to South Africa at the request of the Foreign Office and the visit is seen as being key to furthering relations between the two countries.
Judith Macgregor, British High Commissioner to South Africa, said: "The visit will showcase the wide range of co-operation between our countries as well as offer an excellent platform to further develop the partnerships between the UK and South Africa and Lesotho."
Earlier this year, Prince Harry walked away from his military career to pursue other interests, saying he was "looking forward" to the future.
At the time, the prince said: "Inevitably most good things come to an end and I am at a crossroads in my military career. Luckily for me, I will continue to wear the uniform and mix with fellow servicemen and women for the rest of my life."
He added: "I am considering the options for the future and I am really excited about the possibilities ... so while I am finishing one part of my life, I am getting straight into a new chapter. I am really looking forward to it."

Royals warned about poisonous tree at Anmer Hall

Britain's Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been warned about a poisonous tree in their garden at Anmer Hall in Norfolk.
The royal couple - who tied the knot in 2011 and had their second child, Princess Charlotte, in May - have been warned to beware of a poisonous laburnum tree at their family home.
Leigh Hunt, of the Royal Horticultural Society, told the Daily Express newspaper: "Families with young children should certainly warn their children of the risk if they have a laburnum in their garden.
"But if they have children who are prone to putting things in their mouths, then they might consider removing the tree."
Although deaths caused by laburnum trees are very rare, they can lead to a burning mouth, nausea and vomiting after ingestion.
Dr Kate King, a spokeswoman for Pubic Health England, said: "Our main advice to anybody is to take precautions to prevent small children from eating or touching the seeds.
"Pick seed pods up when they fall to the ground in autumn to prevent children putting them in their mouths.
"And wash youngsters' hands thoroughly if they have come into contact with them."

Prince Charles ‘wants financial independence’

Britain's Prince Charles reportedly wants to be financially independent of the state.
It's been suggested the future king would like to end the custom whereby monarchs sign over Crown Estate earnings to the government in exchange for a Sovereign Grant.
Charles thinks his proposed scenario could independently cover most royal costs, especially if he manages to slim down the monarchy.
A source told the Daily Mail newspaper: "William wants to slim it even more."
The speculation comes shortly after Tom Parker Bowles said his stepfather would "make a fantastic king".
Tom said Prince Charles would make a terrific monarch because he is "a man of warmth and intelligence".
Tom said: "I don't give a c**p what anyone in the press says - you know I couldn't care less - he is a man of warmth and intelligence and humanity and I think he will, if it ever happens, he will make a fantastic king."
What's more, Tom revealed his mother, the Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince Charles are as happy as ever at present.
He said: "All you care about with your parents is that they are happy and my mother is exceptionally happy at the moment and I've always adored my stepfather and he's always been a kind and good and lovely man."

Duchess of Cambridge ‘to wear tiara for state banquet’

Britain's Duchess of Cambridge will reportedly wear a tiara for a Buckingham Palace banquet with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The 33-year-old royal has rarely worn a tiara since marrying Prince William in 2011, but will apparently break away from her usual style for the visit of the president and his wife Peng Liyuan, according to Hello! magazine.
Although her attendance has not been confirmed by officials at the palace, it's widely thought she will wear the tiara for what promises to be an extravagant event.
Speculation about the Duchess' attendance comes shortly after it was reported she missed a friend's wedding at the weekend, leaving Prince William to attend with sister-in-law Pippa Middleton.
She had been expected to attend the wedding of socialite Daisy Dickson and estate agent Bear Maclean at at All Saints Church in Thurlestone, Devon.
A source previously said: "The names William and Catherine Wales were written on the plan, which appeared on an antique-looking mirror.
"They were due to sit at the top table. Kate had been expected to attend.
"No one knows why. Everyone was talking about it over breakfast the next morning."

Prince Harry to open children’s centre in Africa

Britain's Prince Harry is to open a new centre to help some of the most vulnerable children in Africa.
The 30-year-old prince will officially launch the Mamohato Children's Centre in Lesotho in December, which will provide a new base for Sentebale, the charity he founded in 2006 with the help of Prince Seeiso of Lesotho.
The overarching ambition of the charity is to assist the most needy children, a significant number of whom are victims of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the southern African country.
Prince Harry started the charity in the memory of his late mother Princess Diana, and he's previously said he sees it as a key part of continuing her legacy.
He said: "I really feel that by doing this I can follow in my mother's footsteps and keep her legacy alive."
In addition to visiting Lesotho, Kensington Palace has also confirmed the prince will travel to Washington DC at the end of October to carry out a series of engagements ahead of the second Invictus Games, which is scheduled for May 2016.
Presently, Prince Harry is based in Africa, where he has been working on conservation projects.

Buckingham Palace to host photographic exhibition

A new photographic exhibition is to open on the day Britain's Queen Elizabeth celebrates becoming the nation's longest-reigning monarch.
The outdoor show will be held at Buckingham Palace, the Queen's London home, as well as Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse on September 9th, it has been announced.
The exhibition, which has been titled Long To Reign Over Us, will feature official portraits and images of the Queen from 1952 to the present day.
What's more, it will include previously seen informal photographs of the monarch and her family.
The most recent image set to be featured in the exhibition will be this year's Order of the Garter procession at Windsor in June.
Meanwhile, it was recently confirmed Queen Elizabeth will mark becoming the longest reigning monarch by opening a railway line.
Keith Brown, Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure in the Scottish Government, said: "It is a great honour for us that Her Majesty has chosen to mark this milestone by leading the celebrations for the opening of the Borders Railway.
"The people of the Borders and Midlothian have waited almost half a century to see the return of their railway and it is fitting that these two such historic events coincide."

Duchess of Cambridge ‘skips friend’s wedding’

Britain's Duchess of Cambridge reportedly missed a friend's wedding at the weekend, leaving Prince William to attend with sister-in-law Pippa Middleton.

"They were due to sit at the top table. Kate had been expected to attend.
"No one knows why. Everyone was talking about it over breakfast the next morning."
Since having another child, it's been speculated the Duchess is keen for her and her husband to spend more of their spare time at home.
A close friend of the family previously said: "Kate has basically told him that because of his hours with his new job, any other time has to be spent with her and the kids.
"His friends understand, of course, but they are really missing him. And they suspect he is missing them too."

Popularity of royal names on the rise

The popularity of royal names is on the rise in Britain.
New figures from the Office for National Statistics show William, George and Harry all feature in the top ten most popular baby names in England and Wales for 2014.
Harry, for example, was the third most popular name for boys born last year, with as many as 5,379 babies being given the moniker.
The name George has climbed three places, from tenth to seventh on the list, while the name William now occupies tenth place, with 4,134 sharing the same name as the 33-year-old royal.
The publication of the figures come shortly after it was reported that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are still looking to expand their family and "definitely" haven't decided to stop at two children.
An insider recently explained: "Kate is one of three and is very close to her sister Pippa and brother James. Although the Cambridges already have a boy and a girl they haven't definitely decided to stop there.
"They both benefited from growing up with siblings who were close in age. Of course Charlotte is still only a baby but in a year's time, who knows?"
