King Willem-Alexander posts video of Catharina’s ride to school

The Netherlands' King Willem-Alexander posted a video of his eldest daughter's ride to school yesterday (24.08.15).
The 48-year-old royal joined the army of proud parents who share snapshots of their children's lives when he uploaded the short film, that showed Princess Catharina Amalia heading off from their home on her bicycle for her first day of high school, to social media site Facebook.
The heir to the dutch throne looked happy as she smiled and waved at the camera and sat upon the shiny bike that carried a pink basket, presumably full of school books, on her first day attending the Christian Gymnasium Sorghvliet in The Haag.
However, alongside the heart-warming video the King - who is also a protective parent - added a message to the public that asked for the young royal's privacy to be repected.
He wrote: "Like her peers, the Princess has a right to an undisturbed youth. As the future life of the Princess will largely be devoted to public duties, it is important to respect her privacy."
The video and message was an unexpected move from Willem who has tried to keep his daughters, including Arianen and Alexia, out of the public eye.
The King and his wife Queen Maxima have also said that Catharina Amalia won't begin official engagements until she's 18 years old and enters the State Council.

Duchess Kate has ‘that Grace Kelly thing’

Britain's Duchess of Cambridge has the "Grace Kelly" affect.
The 33-year old royal - who gave birth to her second child, Princess Charlotte, in May this year - is as "elegant" as the fashionable American actress who became the Princess of Monaco in the late '50s, according to TV presenter Holly Willoughby.
Holly, 34, gushed: "Look at the pictures from the christening, she's incredible. The way she just floated out in that white dress, pushing the pram. She was born for that role. She's so elegant and gracefull, as if she's from another time. She's got that Grace Kelly thing."
It's not the first time that the brunette royals have been compared.
In 2014 Grace topped a list of the most stylish brides of all time in a survey by Conde Nast.
However Duchess Kate - who at the Royal Wedding to Prince William in 2011 wore a white gown by Alexander McQueen's creative Sarah Burton, that was reminiscent of the winner's iconic gown - came a close second place.
Speaking in Hello! magazine, the 'This Morning' presenter named the British royal as the person she most admires and would like to interview.
She added: "If Kate Middleton (the Duchess of Cambridge) ever did a sit down interview, I would love to do it. I have such a fascinaion with her."

Prince William and Harry’s garlic ban

Britain's Prince William and Prince Harry were forbidden from eating garlic.
The royals' former cook Carolyn Robb - who was employed as Executive Chef at Kensington Palace from 1990 to 2000 - has revealed that the princes were banned from eating the smelly vegetable because of their public commitments.
Carolyn said: "The only thing that was forbidden was garlic. And the reason for that was that they obviously did a lot of public engagements and were in close proximity to people and never wanted to have garlic.
Carolyn penned a cookbook titled 'The Royal Touch' that details the culinary tastes of Prince Charles, Princess Diana and their two sons.
And she says it wasn't all "caviar" at dinner time as people would expect.
She told Raked: "A lot of people's impression of [their] food is that it's upscale, like always with caviar. But they really didn't have that kind of diet at all. When they were home, they preferred really simple, fresh, homemade meals. We had things like wild mushrooms, though, that we'd actually pick on the estate in Scotland.
"Sometimes they were given caviar and truffles as a gift and so we'd use that, but we would never buy [those]. I think it might surprise people that [Prince Charles] was conscious of things like that."
'The Royal Touch' is on sale from today.

Princess Beatrice joins Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher at wedding

Britain's Princess Beatrice was spotted out again with Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher.
The 27-year-old royal and her boyfriend Dave Clark and the Hollywood couple - who welcomed their daughter Wyatt Isabelle into the world in October 2014, and tied the knot in July - attended the wedding of musician and tech inestor D.A. Wallach and Liz Brinson, the founder and editor-in-chief of the fashion and lifestyle blog Swirl Girl Army.
The friends watched the couple tie the knot at the lavish Rosewood Mayakoba hotel in Mexico and onlookers descrived the seen as "happy".
A source told People: "They were chatting it up like old friends. Both couples seemed chill, happy and relaxed."
It's the second time in so many weeks that Beatrice has hung out with the movies stars.
Earlier this month they all hopped into an Uber taxi together and made their way through the streets of New York City whilst chatting to the star-struck driver.
David Capellan took to social media to reveal his excitement at having had the two couples in his car, writing: "I just met #Ashtonkutcher #Milakunis #princessbeatrice and #DaveClark we all had a crazy convo #lol #goodpeople #royalty #uber (sic)"
The group are all good friends, having holidayed together in St Tropez in France in June 2013.
However, earlier this month it was reported Princess Beatrice is worrying royal officials with her lifestyle, after she was recently spotted living it up on Russian business magnate Roman Abramovich's multi-million pound yacht.

Prince William voices the people’s worry over rapid social change

Britain's Prince William thinks people worry over "rapid techonological and social change."
The 33-year-old future king made the statement in a biography of the Queen - written by Lord to commemorate his grandmother's longest-serving reign - and said it is "challenging our communities".
In the book's foreword, he wrote: "Over the last 90 years, the world has changed more rapidly than at any time in history.
"When my grandmother the Queen was born in 1926, the wounds of the Great War were still healing, but few would imagine how soon they would be reopened.
"The confidence of the previous century had morphed into uncertainty and many worried - as they still do - about the challenge presented to our communities by rapid technological and social change."
Fellow Royal biographer Hugo Vickers believes William's comments indicate he will rule "the way he wants to" when he is king.
Hugu told Daily MailOnline: "I think Prince William and the younger Royals learn by example which is one of the great advantages of an hereditary monarchy.
"He will do things the way he wants to do them in the fullness of time of course, but he will no doubt bear in mind how she does things."
In the foreword, the Duke of Cambridge paid tribute to Elizabeth, 89, and described her "perspective and love of family" as well as his 94-year-old grandfather Prince Philip's continued "support" of his wife throughout her reign.

Kate to join Prince William for Caribbean Royal Tour

Britain's Duchess of Cambridge will accompany her husband Prince William on his Caribbean Royal Tour.
The couple will be joined by their children, Prince George, two, and three-month-old Princess Charlotte when they visit some of the 16 Commonwealth countries where Queen Elizabeth is Head of State.
The news comes admidst speculation that the 33-year-old princess made a conscious decision to spend more time at home with her family - since being notably absent from William's side at a number of social engagements recently - following the birth Charlotte in May.
It is thought that Catherine rescheduled her annual Middleton family holiday to Mustique - which usually takes place in the month of January - to join her husband and accomodate the trip that is due to take place early next year.
However the official visit to The Cayman Islands, The Bahamas and The British Virgin Islands - the latter being home to Sir Richard Branson's Necker Island and a favourite holiday destination for many of the Royals - is by no means a holiday.
A Royal insider told Daily MailOnline: "Nothing is certain yet but these things must be planned miles in advanced. It certainly won't be a holiday."

Prince Charles pays tribute to Scottish World War One dead

Britain's Prince Charles paid tribute to a remote Scottish community who lost many lives in World War One.
The heir to the throne wore a Gordon Highlanders kilt as he observed a minute's silence at the short service that took place at the memorial cairn built by local peple in Cabrach, Moray.
Charles also laid a wreath, which read: "In special memory of those from the Cabrach, and the parishes of Rhynie, Lumsden and Dufftown who lost their lives during the First World War."
The Duke of Rothesay chatted to locals and children at the ceremony where it was recognised that more people from the local farming communities died than previously thought in the Great War from battle and disease.
Marc Ellington lead the building of the memorial and said that Prince Charles was pleased with their achievement.
He said: "As well as being one of the finest memorial cairns to be built in Scotland in recent years, this is an outstanding example of what a local community, working together with energy and determination, can achieve.
"His royal highness was greatly pleased with the monument as he is extremely interested in traditional building skills.
"He is a great champion of traditional skills and rural communities. It was a fitting end to a great project.

Prince Harry is ‘a beacon of hope’

Britain's Prince Harry is a "beacon of hope" for war veterans.
The 30-year-old royal promised to join a group of six wounded veterans making a thousand mile walk in the inaugural Walk of Britain, which kicked off on Saturday (22.08.15) in Scotland.
Kirstie Ennis, 24, suffered multiple injuries in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan and is one of two U.S. Marines on the trek to Buckingham Palace.
She hailed the prince a compassionate "leader" who has supported their cause from the beginning.
She said: "There needs to be more leaders like him. When you are wounded, you fall off the grid, so to speak, and it's hard to be able to reach out, especially to people in power.
"For him to be willing to be the face - and a beacon of hope - for wounded warriors and lead the fight to get the wounded the care they need, is so supportive.
"He is laidback in the sense that he wants you to feel comfortable, but he's compassionate. You can tell what he is doing is because of having a good heart. There is no ulterior motive."
Meanwhile Ben Lement, 32, fought in the Marine Corps and hopes that the prince - who served two tours in Afghanistan - will encourage more people to help the cause.
He said: "The more people who care about these causes, the more people will come forward to help. We have a huge bond with him because he understands what it means to serve."
The group have passed Loch Ness and will take on Ben Nevis today (24.08.15).

Prince William priases Queen Elizabeth

Britain's Prince William has paid tribute to his grandmother the Queen.
The future heir to the throne wrote a foreword dedicated to Elizabeth in a biography of the Queen by Lord Hurd which has been written to commemorate her longest-serving reign as monarch.
He wrote: "I think I speak for my generation when I say that the example and continuity provided by the Queen is not only rare among leaders but a great source of pride and reassurance."
Wednesday evening on August 26 will mark just over 63 years and seven months on the throne for Elizabeth - equalling the record held by her great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria.
The 33-year-old Prince also honored his grandfather, Prince Philip, in the book's introduction.
He penned: "The Queen's kindness and sense of humour, her innate sense of calm and perspective and her love of family and home are all attributes I experience first-hand. I should add that no mention of the Queen is complete without paying tribute to my grandfather Prince Philip, who has devoted his life to supporting her."
Although the Queen has decided not to mark the event, her grandson inisted that the family should celebrate her story.
The Duke of Cambridge said: "All of us who will inherit the legacy of my grandmother's reign and generation need to do all we can to celebrate and learn from her story. Speaking for myself, I am privileged to have the Queen as a model for a life of service to the public."
