Prince Carl Philip pays tribute to aunt

Newlyweds Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden paid tribute to his late aunt Lilian on Friday (28.08.15).
The Swedish royals attended the opening of the exhibition, Clothes of a Princess - the Lilian Look, at Stockholm's Royal Palace.
Former model Lilian Davies - who died in 2013 - became a princess when she married Sweden's Prince Bertil in 1976 and the new exhibit displays 30 years of vintage couture from her personal collection.
Carl Philip's mother Queen Silvia joined the newlyweds at the exhibition and said: "It is sometimes said that the clothes make the woman. But with Princess Lilian it was the opposite. In her case, it was the woman who made the clothes."
30-year-old Sofia, Duchess of Värmland married Carl Philip, 36, in June, six years after they started dating.
Speaking about his former reality TV star wife, he previously said: "Above all, she's beautiful and has beautiful eyes. But she's also a fantastic person. She's down to earth and has a wonderful personality. There are so many good things to say about her.
"I don't think I knew the magic of love before I met Sofia. But ever since I met her, I've seen how love can change a person."

‘Bad uncle’ Prince Harry

Britain's Prince Harry says he is a "bad uncle" for missing Princess Charlotte's christening.
The 30-year-old royal missed his baby niece's special day in July at St. Mary Magdalene Church on the queen's Sandringham Estate in Norfolk because of volunteering commitments South Africa.
And Save the Rhino ranger Simson Uri-Khob told the Mail on Sunday newspaper that Harry said: "What a bad uncle I am! I should really be there. But today I am here, this is where I want to be."
Harry has been spending time at Kruger Park game reserve and has joined the war on criminals for the government's anti-poaching campaign called Operation Corona.
Maj Gen Jooste greeted the royal when he arrived and he said they will do everything they can to "try to keep him safe" but they do intend to go to war and "win it".
He previously said: "Harry will be with me for quite some time. We'll try to keep him safe. This is a declaration of war against South Africa by armed foreign criminals. We are taking the war to these armed bandits and we aim to win it."
During his first week, Harry saw off three poachers, including one shoot-out which left one of the criminals injured and therefore, more than likely preventing the unlawful killing of animals.
Peter Chadwick, a South African conservationist also said that he wouldn't be "surprised" if Prince Harry has been working as a pilot.
He said: "This is counter-insurgency, an actual war that they are fighting. I know of Prince Harry's involvement with the anti-poaching unit in Kruger and I know the situation there is no fun and games. You don't get a chance to sit down and reason with these guys over a cup of tea.
"It's all about rapid response and that's where the helicopters come in. I wouldn't be surprised if Harry was doing some piloting."

Britain’s Prince Charles is charming in real life

Britain's Prince Charles is truly "charming".
The 66-year-old royal will be portayed on stage in 'King Charles III' at Birmingham Repertory Theatre by 'Holby City' actor Robert Powell, who has met the prince on numerous occassions and says he is a very warm man in real life.
He said: "If you go online, all you get is an official Charles. The Charles I am glad I am familiar with is a social Charles. Then he is lovely and very charming, although there are elements of rigidity in the private Charles. He is very disciplined and likes things just so."
Robert, 71, is an ambassador for the Prince of Wales' charity the Prince's Trust and says he'll draw on the times he has met the heir to the throne in person to play the character.
He said: "He always says 'oh hello' when he meets me in a friendly way. I also know his father quite well and they are quite alike."
He added: "It's poignant but also a very funny play. As soon as I read the script, I knew it was extraordinary and I wanted to do it. This is a huge challenge as it's a massive part but it is a great character to try to bring to life."
'King Charles III' runs September 4 to 19 at Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

Race to make ‘Elizabeth Sponge’ for Queen’s anniversary

Britain's Queen Elizabeth II has inspired a cake race.
Top chefs including Rosemary Shrager, Brendan Lynch, Dean Edwards, Matt Tebbutt and Miranda Gore Browne are competing to make the 'Elizabeth Sponge' before September 9, to mark the day that the queen becomes the longest-serving monarch in British history.
Speaking about her recipe, Rosemary said: "I love the Royal family and the Monarchy so I'm delighted to have been able to create a new sponge cake which celebrates the reign of Queen Elizabeth.
"When it came to deciding what would go into the sponge, I wanted to make two cakes sandwiched together. They have two very different feelings; the bottom sponge which is coarser in texture represents the firmness and solid line of the Monarchy."
Matt's is a spiced honey cake with raspberry and whisky cream, Brendan's includes traditionally British raspberry-rose and lemon flavours and Miranda's sponge is golden honey with crunchy chocolate biscuits, buttery highland shortbread, raspberry cream and honey drizzle.
Kenwood came up with the idea and have asked the British public to decide which is the best tasting recipe
What's more, it's hoped that it will trump the popular Victoria Sponge as the nation's most loved cake.
They said: "We've been producing every day baking essentials for over 60 years and feel proud to mark such a milestone in the British monarchy with a new quintessentially British recipe."
The winner will be chosen on 13 September at Goodwood Revival and people can vote on Kenwood's Facebook page.

Princess Mette-Marit in car crash

Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit was involved in a car accident on Tuesday (26.08.15).
The 42-year-old royal was left unharmed from the traffic collision that happened in Oslo on the anniversary of her marriage to her husband, Crown Prince Haakon, also 42.
Though a statement from the palace called the accident "undramatic" it caused the princess to cancel all other engagements that day.
It said: "The Crown Princess was hit in her car. There was a small traffic accident and this was quite undramatic".
Mette-Marit was travelling to a public engagement but was forced to take the rest of the day off becuase of long-standing neck problems caused back in 2008 when she fell during an official visit to the Ukraine.
The blonde royal subsequently underwent corrective surgery but her old injuries were compounded by Tuesday's crash.
Crown Prince Haakon stepped in for his wife at the UN event for women's equality that she was due to attend.
According to the palace website, Princess Mette-Marit is set to attend five separate engagements during the upcoming week.

Prince Charles: Help me restore Regents Park’s cherry trees

Britain's Prince Charles wants public support for new trees in Regents Park.
The 66-year-old royal is calling on people to help the restoration of Cherry Tree Avenue on Chester Road which was originally planted 40 years ago and many of the blossom trees have come to the end of their natural life-span.
He said: "Historic avenues of trees are one of the things that make the Parks so special, which is why I am so pleased to support the Royal Parks Foundation's vision to restore the Cherry Tree Avenue in The Regent's Park."
The Prince of Wales is a Royal Patron of the Foundation and wants people to make a donation or dedicate a new cherry tree.
A keen environmentlist, Charles believes the splash of colour the trees add to the royal parks lifts spirits and brings pleasure to visitors each season.
He said: "The proposed planting will bring pink tinted blossom in the spring and yellow-golden leaves to lift the spirits every autumn. I am sure the many visitors to the park will derive great pleasure from this changing spectacle of the seasons."
50 trees and £100,000 has already been pledged to the cause.
Regent's Park began the tradition in the 1930s, when Queen Mary's Rose Garden was created with donations from the artist Sigismund Goetze.
In 1978 the last cherry tree (Prunus 'Kanzan') was planted on Chester Road and removed in February of this year.

Prince Harry’s Invictus Games changed my life

Britain's Prince Harry's Invictus Games was a life-changing experience for it's host.
Former GMTV newsreader Kirsteen O'Sullivan presented the televised event when it launched in 2014 that saw injured soldiers compete in wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball and indoor rowing games and said she came away from the experience a different person.
Kirsteen, 35, said: "The gig that I've hands down loved the most, was working across the Invictus Games; it changed me forever."
She explained: "There are certain moments that will never leave me. I interviewed Israel Del Toro from the US Air Force, in front of a crowd that was silenced, with awe and admiration. He sustained life changing burns in an IED blast in Afghanistan and admits, he thought he was a goner. He described his near death experience for us, as his wife and son sat close by, how his family inspired him to keep going, to push through. The building erupted with thunderous applause. That's what humanity is all about, right?"
The next Invictus Games - which Harry launched in London in 2014 after he was inspired by watching America's 'Warrior Games' for wounded soldiers - will be held in Florida in May 2016 and Kristeen can't wait to cheer on the teams.
She said in her blog on the Huffington Post: "I've never had difficulty controlling my emotions on camera - until this point in my life. I cried alongside everyone else, tears of empathy and of joy.
"I will be rallying behind them every step of the way."

Prince Harry and TV star’s romance is off

Britain's Prince Harry's reported relationship with Jenna Coleman looks to be off.
The 'Doctor Who' star was romantically linked to the red-headed royal - who is currently working on a conservation project in Africa - after they were seen at a polo match together earlier this year but she has been spotted holding hands with her ex-boyfriend, 'Game of Thrones' actor Richard Madden.
The 29-year-old actor - who also appeared in the role of Prince Kit in the Sir Kenneth Branagh-directed 'Cinderella' earlier this year - took Jenna to the cinema this week, fueling speculation they've reunited following their brief split.
It had been suggested Jenna and Prince Harry were on the path towards becoming a couple and a report earlier this month claimed the royal was trying to keep the burgeoning romance quiet.
A source previously shared: "Although the British public adores her and she would make a wonderful princess, Harry told his aides not to talk about the relationship with anyone, so [the relationship] could develop in secret."
However, it was also speculated that Jenna's work in television may prove to be problematic.
The insider explained: "Jenna has already been topless on television.
"She was also in a sex scene and there are plenty of risqué viral videos of her online."

Duchess of Cornwall celebrates National Dog Day

Britain's Duchess of Cornwall has wished animal lovers a "Happy National Dog Day".
A message on the Twitter account of Clarence House where Camilla, 68, resides with 66-year-old Prince Charles expressed well-wishes to dog lovers everywhere from her and her rescue jack russel Bluebell.
It read: "Animal lover the Duchess of Cornwall gets a hug from her rescue dog Bluebell. #HappyNationalDogDay! (sic)".
The wife of the Prince of Wales adopted the canine in 2012, when it was just four months old, from south London's famous Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and her furry friend is often seen at public engagements with the royal.
Bluebell is accompanied by Beth in the royal household, who was rescued from the centre a year before in 2011.
Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth II reportedly won't be taking on any more pets herself because the 89-year-old monarch has a fear of tripping over them.
A source shared: "Her corgis are getting on a bit and move along at a sedate speed but a young dog would obviously be very lively and much more active. Her main fear is that if she fell and broke her arm or even a leg she would not be able to perform her duties for many weeks if not months, and that would upset her greatly."
