Prince Harry jokes double-amputee rower is a ‘lunatic’

Prince Harry called a veteran an "absolute lunatic" for planning to row across the Atlantic for a second time.
The royal previously met Cayle Royce, 29, from Dartmouth in Devon, after he completed his first crossing and upon hearing he is getting ready for a second trip, Harry joked the double-amputee was crazy.
Trooper Royce - who lost both of his legs in Afghanistan - told the Daily Mail: "'I met Harry when I completed the row for the first time and he told me I was an absolute lunatic for doing it again.
"You consider a lot more when you lose limbs. Having these rows to aim for really pushed me to work hard and it's only through the Endeavour Fund and seeing guys constantly generate interest in people like us that it's possible."
Harry, 31, has been fiercely supportive of injured veterans, setting up the Invictus Games, a Paralympic-style event for wounded soldiers and his commitment has won admiration from the military and beyond.
A source said: "He is totally at ease within the military environment - he speaks their language and they respect him hugely."
Walking with the Wounded co-founder, Ed Parker, added: "He is somebody they are able to relate to very easily and importantly he can relate back to them.
"He's genuinely interested in hearing peoples' back-stories. He wants to get under their skin so he can take that understanding and experience to help others in the future.
"Through Invictus, he brought the attention of a considerably wider audience, and in doing so that led to the recognition of how remarkable these men and women are. That doesn't change, and he doesn't change that, they are extraordinary people - but it does bring that focus onto it."

Princess Charlene to be honoured with two stamps

Monaco's Princess Charlene is set to be honoured with two stamps.
The former Olympic swimmer - who married Prince Albert in 2011 - will feature on the stamps which are set to be issued by Monaco's Office des Timbres on December 3.
Designed by Stefanie Van Zyl and engraved by Elsa Catelin, the €1.60 stamp will feature a portrait of Charlene - who represented South Africa in the Olympics - with a bouquet of proteas, the national flower of South Africa in the background
The €0.68 stamp contains a picture of a rose named after the princess and created by Meilland International.
According to the Office des Timbres: "The luxuriant rose blooms with a beautiful display of pastel shades, and its pale pink flowers, with their delicately sweet scent, each have around 68 petals."
Meanwhile, Charlene recently revealed that her and Albert's twins, 11-month-old Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, are already starting to develop very distinctive personalities.
She explained: "Jacques is a real boss. He's grown a lot and seems to have taken after his father. He only needs a little sleep, and he's looking around all the time.
"He's very observant and has developed a real protective side, which he directs towards his sister Gabriella. They interact in their own little world. It's amazing to watch them.
"We've noticed, funnily enough, that Gabriella is developing a real princess attitude. I can tell you that her favourite colour is pink and that 'no' is a word she doesn't like."

Prince William tops role model poll

Prince William has topped a list of male role models.
The 33-year-old royal - who is second in line to the British throne - topped a new poll by The Huffington Post UK, getting 25 per cent of the vote.
1,500 men were asked to choose their role model for the Modern Male research.
Stephen Hull, Editor in Chief of The Huffington Post UK, said: "We have been focusing on what it means to be a modern man and how men are redefining masculinity in today's society.
"It is refreshing to see that men no longer feel that they need to be the main breadwinner in a household and traits such as commitment, trust and passion, are coming to the fore."
William - who has children, Prince George, two and six-month-old Princess Charlotte with his wife Duchess Catherine - beat off competition from his friend David Beckham, who got 14 per cent of the vote, US President Barack Obama (nine per cent) and chef Jamie Oliver (four per cent).

Ellie Goulding’s royal surprise

Ellie Goulding didn't believe that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge really wanted her to sing at their wedding.
The 28-year-old singer admitted she believed she was simply being used as a decoy to deflect media attention when she was first asked to perform at the royal nuptials in 2011.
She told The Times Magazine: "I thought, 'I'm definitely a decoy'. Had I been asked now, maybe I wouldn't be as surprised. It was a really cool night, I played a mash-up of my songs and songs they wanted."
Ellie previously revealed she struggled to keep the secret that she was performing at the reception hosted by Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace.
She said: "In the weeks before, everyone I know was talking about the wedding, and I was trying not to say anything. I kept it to myself for so long - but no one would have believed me anyway."
Speaking about the royals, she added: "I talked to William and Kate quite a bit. They're just a really awesome couple, lovely people, so I understand why people are fascinated by them.
"It was a really beautiful night. But then, I haven't been to many weddings."

New poll indicates 51 per cent of Australians don’t want King Charles

A new poll indicates 51 per cent of the Australian population would prefer their own head of state to Prince Charles as king, just as he undertakes a tour of the country.
The heir to the British throne is currently on a visit to Australia with his wife Duchess Camilla just as the new poll of 1008 voters, commissioned by the ARM and conducted by Essential Research, was published.
When asked, "When Prince Charles becomes King of Australia, will you support or oppose replacing the British monarch with an Australian citizen as Australia's head of state?", only 27 per cent of voters opposed replacing the royal with an Australian head of state.
22 per cent of people were undecided.
ARM chairman Peter FitzSimons said told SMH.com.au: "We look forward to the day when members of the royal family make the trip as our equals and not Australia's current and future rulers.
"As our future king and his wife touch down for their five-day tour, the Australian people are getting behind the idea of an Australian head of state in a big way. And that support is only going to increase, especially if Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull makes it a priority as we hope and expect he will."
However, the prime minister avoided questions on his thoughts on the matter, commenting: "If the queen's reign comes to an end and the constitution is in the form it is today, Prince Charles will become our head of state ... so if Charles become the king of the United Kingdom as I have no doubt he will be, unless our constitution has been changed, he will become the king of Australia."

Prince Charles supports farmers

Prince Charles has urged people to buy British food.
Writing in Country Life magazine to celebrate his upcoming 67th birthday, the heir to the British throne encouraged people to support family farms.
He wrote: "Those of us who care enough about the grave situation facing our famers and rural communities really can help by buying British food whenever we can.
"In doing so, we are also more likely to be getting fresh, high quality produced from a known and trusted source, offering good value for money. It seems to me that the key is to make it as easy as possible for people to know when they are buying British - and why that is a good choice."
He also suggested that people could be overlooking how important farmers are.
He said: "The rural economy is largely invisible to many people. So, it is perhaps worth spelling out, especially to those who - whether by choice or necessity - live largely urban lifestyles, that we rely on farmers to make a huge contribution to our nation's food security, environment and prosperity.
"And in all three respects, we live in an increasingly uncertain world. That is why we need to do everything we can to keep our farmers farming."

Princess Michael’s TV dream

Princess Michael of Kent wants Julian Fellowes to adapt her books for TV.
The royal - who is married to Prince Michael, a cousin of both Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip - is close to the 'Downton Abbey' creator as his wife Emma is her lady-in-waiting and revealed she wants him to turn her historical novels into a TV show.
Speaking about her Anjou trilogy based on the royals in 15th century France, she told the Daily Mail: "I want Julian to make this series of books into one drama.
"My previous book, 'The Serpent And The Moon', would be another drama. Julian would do a marvellous job.
"His wife has been my chief lady-in-waiting for 25 years, so no pressure."
Indeed Princess Michael - whose real name is Marie-Christine - admitted Julian had actually started work on adapting her previous book before he became too busy with 'Downton Abbey'.
She said: "He actually started preparing for it, but his agent told him: 'You have to work on Downton Abbey'. My books would make a great drama. They tell a fascinating story."

Queen Elizabeth honours Cumberbatch with CBE

Benedict Cumberbatch was honoured with a CBE from Britain's Queen Elizabeth on Tuesday (10.11.15).
The 'Sherlock' star arrived at Buckingham Palace in London with his wife Sophie to receive his accolade - Commander of the Order of the British Empire - from the 89-year-old monarch after he made it onto the Birthday Honours List for his work as an actor and his charitable efforts.
Benedict, 39, admitted afterwards that he was riddled with nerves before meeting the queen and being presented with his honour.
Speaking to the BBC, he said: "It's fantastic, it's quite nerve-racking, there is nothing really that prepares you for it.
"It's a unique occasion and I feel very privileged to be here and flattered to be recognised in this way.
"It was wonderful, it was the first time I've ever met her and to meet her and be honoured by her was extraordinary."
Meanwhile, it's been a busy year for the handsome actor as he's just wrapped up his three-month stint as Hamlet in the Shakespearean production at the Barbican in London.
The 12-week project managed to raise an estimated £150,000 for the Save the Children charity.
He also married his long-time lover Sophie in a romantic ceremony in March following a two-month engagement, and the pair welcomed their first child, son Christopher, in June.
And the star shows no signs of slowing down any time soon as he's currently filming upcoming Marvel Studios movie 'Doctor Strange', set for release in 2016.
