Ross Kemp to host Top Gear?

Ross Kemp wants to host ‘Top Gear’.
The 51-year-old investigative journalist, who appeared on the programme for one episode in 2009, is desperate to nab a presenting gig on the revamped show after it was recently announced Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc will be taking over from Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.
Speaking to Woman magazine, he explained: "I’m a great fan of Chris Evans. It’s hard to walk into the shoes of an established show like ‘Top Gear’ but I’m sure he’ll make it his own. I’d love to do it. It’s my dream job. What’s not to like about driving around in nice cars? I’d swap him a sleeping bag, body armour and dirty, wet boots any day."
But Ross – who is known for his hard-hitting documentaries – has his hands tied up for the time being as he’s set to reprise his role as bad boy Grant Mitchell in ‘EastEnders’ this year.
He said recently: "I’m panicking about everything. About whether I’ve lost the ability to learn all the lines.
"About whether I can cope with it all. The middle-class ethics I was brought up with. I worry about letting people down, letting myself down. That’s my biggest fear.
"It’s going to be like going back to sixth form. I’ve had sniper rounds go through the wall behind me, and I am quite cool under fire. I’m good at dealing with things like that. But I’m wetting myself at the thought of going back to ‘EastEnders’."
