Ross Kemp struggled to understand interviewees when filming Ross Kemp: Libya’s Migrant Hell

Ross Kemp had "no idea" what people on ‘Ross Kemp: Libya’s Migrant Hell’ said.
The 52-year-old actor struggled to understand what his interviewees spoke about whilst he was filming the upcoming documentary because of their "different dialects", although he felt he could get the "gist" of their conversation.
Speaking to host Simon Mayo on his BBC Radio 2 Drivetime set on Tuesday (21.02.17), the hardman said: "Sometimes you get the gist of it. They have different dialects and I have no idea what people are saying and I listen to their passion."
And the former ‘EastEnders’ star – who is known for playing the role of Grant Mitchell in the longstanding soap – found filming the upcoming programme the most "poignant" and "important" project he has ever worked on, and the "most shocking and the most upsetting" site he has ever visited.
He explained: "To say it was the best… I think it’s the most important one. I’ve never made a film that was more poignant and more important."
"It used to be one of the richest countries in Africa.
"Of all the places I have been to, it was the most shocking and the most upsetting.
"The worst thing about that place is the complete lack of hope. I’ve travelled to Afghanistan, even in the darkest moment, I knew there was some sort of hope. I didn’t see any hope there.
"Even in the worst refugee camp, I’ve managed to find there was some medical help. Here people were dying, giving birth without help."
And Ross believes no amount of training could prepare him for what he witnessed whilst filming the one and a half hour episode exploring the country after the fall of Libya’s dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
He said: "You can never be trained to be looking into the eyes of a woman whose child has died."
‘Ross Kemp: Libya’s Migrant Hell’ will air on Sky 1 at 9pm on Wednesday (22.02.17).
