Rosie O’Donnell reconnects with daughter

Rosie O’Donnell has "reconnected" with her estranged daughter Chelsea, after it was revealed she is expecting a baby.
The 56-year-old comedian has had a strained relationship with her daughter – whom she adopted as a baby with her then-wife Kelli Carpenter – for many years, but after Chelsea’s boyfriend Jacob Bourassa revealed they were expecting their first child together, Rosie is said to have reached out.
Speaking to People magazine through her representative, Rosie is quoted to have said: "Yes, she is pregnant. We have reconnected."
Jacob confirmed the news when he shared photos of his pregnant girlfriend and their baby’s sonogram on Facebook.
He wrote alongside the images: "Loves of my life can’t wait to meet my little one."
The reported reconciliation comes after Chelsea revealed in September last year that she was expecting a baby with then-husband Nick Alliegro. The pair have since split, and her pregnancy claims did not result in her having a baby.
At the time, Chelsea insisted the ‘Rosie O’Donnell Show’ star would not have a part in her tot’s life.
She said: "Rosie will not have a part in this child’s life … Rosie and I don’t have a relationship any more. I don’t think it can ever be mended. I really don’t think there is any hope for our relationship."
Rosie later hit back at Chelsea’s decision, adding that she will "always love" her daughter despite their tumultuous past.
When asked how it felt to be excluded from Chelsea’s growing family, Rosie said: "To say it’s not painful is a lie. I love her and I will always love her."
And Rosie insisted that whilst she understands that Chelsea thinks she "sucks", it can be hard to navigate their relationship whilst under the scrutiny of the media.
She added at the time: "She thinks I suck right now. The press part is a little bit hard. She doesn’t always have the ability to make the right decisions in the moment. And a lot of people in the press have a predatory instinct against her."
