Rose McGowan slams Meryl Streep

Rose McGowan has slammed Meryl Streep for reportedly planning to take part in a "silent protest" against Harvey Weinstein.
The 44-year-old star has blasted the group of actresses were were reportedly planning to wear black gowns to the Golden Globe awards next month as a symbol of objection against harassment in Hollywood, insisting they are hypocrites and suggested they should wear dresses by Marchesa, the label headed by Georgina Chapman, the estranged wife of the disgraced movie mogul, who walked out on him after multiple accusations of sexual misconduct came to light.
She tweeted: "Actresses, like Meryl Streep, who happily worked for The Pig Monster Weinstein), are wearing black @GoldenGlobes in a silent protest.
"YOUR SILENCE is THE problem. You’ll accept a fake award breathlessly & affect no real change. I despise your hypocrisy. Maybe you should all wear Marchesa. (sic)".
While Rose singled out Meryl in her Tweet, the 68-year-old actress – who is nominated for her role in ‘The Post’ – has yet to confirm whether or not she’ll be taking part in the red carpet protest.
She said: "I don’t know. I’m not talking. You gotta tune in, don’t ya?"
And the screen legend was one of the first to speak out against 65-year-old Weinstein after the allegations against him were published in October.
She said: "The disgraceful news about Harvey Weinstein has appalled those of us whose work he championed, and those whose good and worthy causes he supported.
"The intrepid women who raised their voices to expose this abuse are our heroes.
"The behaviour is inexcusable, but the abuse of power familiar.
"Each brave voice that is raised, heard and credited by our watchdog media will ultimately change the game."
Meanwhile, Rose – who has accused the producer of rape – has been one of Weinstein’s biggest critics and a main subject in the New York Times expose, which detailed years of the allegations against him.
She also claimed she had been offered $1 million in "hush money" just 24 hours before the article was published.
Over 50 women have accused Weinstein of sexual assault.
He has denied all allegations of non-consensual sex.
