Roman Kemp is taking time off his Capital FM breakfast show following the death of a close friend.
The 27-year-old radio presenter and his co-stars Sian Welby, 33, and Sonny Jay, 27, went off-air on Tuesday (04.08.20) during their show, and it has been confirmed Rob Howard and Lauren Layfield will take over for the rest of the week.
A Capital spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that Rob Howard and Lauren Layfield will host Capital Breakfast for the rest of this week."
Capital listeners took to social media to question why Roman and his co-stars had gone off air on Tuesday.
An industry source told The Sun newspaper: "Roman and his colleagues are in complete shock, they can’t believe someone they were all close to is gone.
"They’ve all been left completely shattered by the upsetting news and are taking some time to grieve and digest the tragedy.
"It’s a tough time for them all right now."
As well as hosting the breakfast show, Roman took part in ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ last year – on which he finished in third place I- and more recently he teamed up with his dad, Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp to give their opinions on the week’s TV on ‘Celebrity Googlebox’.
The father-and-son duo also recently landed their own show, ‘Martin & Roman’s Sunday Best!’.
The 22-episode entertainment series sees the pair chat to celebrity guests and enjoy live music performances.
Roman said: "Working with my Dad is something I love to do.
"I’m so excited to be presenting our own show on a Sunday morning, ‘Martin & Roman’s Sunday Best!’ on ITV."
