Roland Emmerich planning Independence Day 3

Roland Emmerich will make ‘Independence Day 3’ in "20 years" with the "son" of Liam Hemsworth’s character.
The 60-year-old director helmed the original movie in 1996 and ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ – which is out next month – starring the heartthrob but insists he’ll wait another two decades to make a third film, at the grand old age of 80.
Asked when the next movie in the franchise will be made, he said: "I always like to choose in the next 20 years. Twenty years later actually Liam has, like, a son. It wants to get a good script."
However, he acknowledged the studio would use another director if they decide they don’t want to wait that long.
He added to Shortlist magazine: "No studio likes to do something without that possibility… If it wants to get a good script going and another director, I’m fine with it. I think the studio would want me to direct it because I’m so tied into this, but I’ve also said to everybody that I want to do one or two original movies. I’m not following this up."
Meanwhile, the director admitted his job comes with pressure but nothing that a glass of red wine can’t sort out.
He said: "I drink like a fish. I always say I’m a simple drunk and not an alcoholic because I don’t go to meetings, I mean, I love my red wine. I can drink sometimes on and a half bottles a day. I’m an active person and that keeps me young, running around a lot."
