Robert Downey Jr. set to return to the small screen

Robert Downey Jr. is set to make a return to television.
It has been reported that the 51-year-old ‘Iron Man’ star has hooked up with True Detective’s Nic Pizzolatto and that the pair are working on a new project for HBO.
The move would mark the first time Downey has been on TV since he appeared in legal comedy/drama ‘Ally McBeal’ in which he played Larry Paul – the love interest of the title character portrayed by Calista Flockhart – from 2000 until 2002.
As yet, there is no information of the project other than that Pizzolatto is on script duties and Downey will star in the drama.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources have revealed that the show might be based on the 1950s legal drama ‘Perry Mason’.
Pizzolatto is locked into a deal tying him to HBO until 2018, and the TV giant insists that ‘True Detective’ "is not dead" but that the creative is "busy working on some other projects" for the time being.
Downey’s screen time has been mostly taken up by his role as Tony Stark and his metal-suited alter ego Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his most recent appearance being in ‘Captain America: Civil War’.
He will play Stark again in the upcoming ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ movie which is due out in 2017.
