Robbie Williams’ skin "breaks out" when he has to socialise.
The ‘Party Like a Russian’ hitmaker has spoken openly about his battle with depression and how hard it can be for him to talk to other people, and his wife Ayda Field has revealed he experiences a physical reaction to stressful situations.
She said: "He’ll say yes to things, we’ll have dinner plans with friends or whatever and then the day comes and he’s just like, ‘I can’t do it, I don’t want to do it,’ and panicked, his skin will break out and he’ll get eczema on his face."
The 42-year-old singer – who has children Teddy, four, and Charlton, two, with his spouse – has been sober for years after battling drink and drug addictions, and Ayda believes that’s one of the reasons why he finds it so tough to make small talk and mingle.
Speaking on UK TV show ‘Loose Women’, she added: "Rob said it’s not nearly as much fun going out and not being able to drink like everyone else, how many espressos can you have?"
The ‘Fresh Meat’ actress hates seeing her husband in the grip of depression and admits she can feel a "lot of pressure" to try and help him through it and see things a different way.
She added: "It’s a big responsibility, it’s a lot of pressure when someone is in a bad mindset, you so badly want to shift them out of that because you know it’s just about perspective but sometimes when someone is in the midst of their own crisis you can’t get them out of it and it can be almost frustrating that you so badly want to rescue them from themselves."
