Robbie Williams hasn’t signed on for X Factor – yet

Robbie Williams says "nothing has been signed" for him to become a judge on ‘The X Factor’ but he admits he would "love to do it".
The ‘Let Me Entertain You’ singer is the red hot favourite to take one of the seats on the panel of the new series of the ITV talent show following the departure of Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger, whilst his wife Ayda Field has been rumoured to take the other spare spot next to her husband.
Robbie and Ayda are close friends with show boss Simon Cowell and his partner Lauren Silverman and they regularly meet up and hang out with their kids in Los Angeles.
The 44-year-old pop megastar admits he’s had discussions with Simon, 58, about joining the programme – which also features Sharon Osbourne on the panel – but nothing is confirmed.
Appearing on ‘This Morning’, he said: "I’ve read these reports too and I would understand, because I’ve read the articles too, that people would think I’m doing ‘The X Factor’ and so is my wife. As it happens people say it every year and I always say ‘no comment’.
"There’s a lot of me that would love to do it, there’s a lot of talking but nothing has been signed. Me and Simon and Lauren and my kids and little Eric hang out a lot and we talk about a lot of things. Nothing is signed, but watch this space."
Robbie – who has five-year-old daughter Teddy and three-year-old son Charlton with actress Ayda – promised hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby that if he does sign on the dotted line then he will tell them first.
He said: "If it does go ahead and I do go ahead and do it you will be the first people I come to speak to about it."
Robbie did admit that his penchant for erratic and unpredictable behaviour makes him nervous about becoming a judge on ‘The X Factor’ because he thinks Ayda, 39, would be worried about what he would do.
He said: "If there is an ‘X Factor’ in my future, whether it’ll be this year, or next year or never I am scared for my own safety and health but because of the people out there, or the public, or Twitter, or Instagram but my wife. She’s sort of a grade A+ student from Beverly Hills, incredibly square and is like, ‘Why would you do that?’ "
