Rob Lowe was inspired to take part in a Comedy Central Roast by Justin Bieber.
The 52-year-old actor admitted he had turned down requests to take part numerous times but after he saw Justin, 22, accept the insults hurled at him during his roast last year, he decided it was time to say yes.
Rob told E! News: "They’ve asked me to do it a bunch and I’ve always said no. I was watching last year going, ‘You know what, dude? Man up. Really grow a pair.’ So I’m here to let it fly. I’m psyched!"
And Rob insisted that nothing was off-limits for roasters including Jeff Ross, Pete Davidson, Rob Riggle, Jewel, Peyton Manning and Ann Coulter.
He explained: "Our society is so politically correct and everybody’s afraid to say anything that might offend anybody. It is a free-fire zone breath of fresh air. Some feelings will get hurt- mostly mine! – but it’s going to be fine."
However, he was slightly worried about his good pal David Spade, explaining: "He’s known me too long. He knows where all the bodies are buried."
Rob is the latest star to sign up to be ridiculed by a host of comics and famous faces for the network, following in the footsteps of Justin and Charlie Sheen.
Comedy Central president Kent Alterman previously said: "Rob Lowe is handsome, talented, successful and handsome. He needs to be roasted."
Rob added: "What a thrill to once again be following in Justin Bieber’s footsteps. I look forward to a night of hilarious jokes recycled from the James Franco Roast. I would like to express my gratitude to the members of my family who have passed away and therefore will not have to endure what promises to be a very special evening."
Rob – who has been married to Sheryl Berkoff since 1991 – has overcome alcohol addiction and a sex tape scandal in the past to become one of America’s best-loved actors and frequently pokes fun at his own past indiscretions.
