Riyadh Khalaf reveals Celebrity MasterChef’s competitive edge

Riyadh Khalaf thinks ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ brings out the "worst and best in you".

The YouTube star recently won the coveted ‘MasterChef’ trophy after seeing off competition from the likes of Sir Matthew Pinsent and Sam Quek, and Riyadh has now confessed that tensions ran high throughout the competition.

He told ‘The One Show’: "You know when you stand at the back of the room and John [Torode] and Gregg [Wallace] are judging someone else’s dish, you know there’s about 20 cameras looking at your reaction and when they get a bad review for their food, you’ve got to go, ‘Ohh darling, that’s so bad!’

"But, deep down you’re like ‘Yes! Yes! Yes!’ [when competitors fail]. It was bittersweet, you’re a nice person but it brings out the worst and best in you."

Last month, meanwhile, Riyadh revealed he almost slipped up and spoiled his ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ win.

The YouTube star confessed he found it tough to keep news of his triumph a secret.

He said: "I didn’t fully slip up, but I came close.

"I have a couple of friends who are investigative journalists and they used their power on me to try and lure it out by using really clever questioning.

"I managed to keep it in. I think they knew by my fear and hesitation. I literally walked away from them."

Riyadh is also thrilled to have been crowned the ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ winner.

He shared: "It feels like nothing I’ve never felt before. It’s Pride but it’s like Pride supercharged.

"I’ve felt a feeling like this before when I’ve made programmes and radio shows and I’m proud of them and then there’s something like this!"
