Ricky Whittle has landed a leading acting role in the US.
The former ‘Hollyoaks’ actor, who was known for playing Calvin Valentine in the soap until his sleazy alter-ego was shot dead in 2010, has just landed his first big role across the pond as he’s been cast as Shadow Moon in the TV adaption of Neil Gaiman’s fantasy novel ‘American Gods’.
Neil said in a statement: "I’m thrilled that Ricky has been cast as Shadow. His auditions were remarkable. The process of taking a world out of the pages of a book, and putting it onto the screen has begun.
"’American Gods’ is, at its heart, a book about immigrants, and it seems perfectly appropriate that Shadow will, like so much else, be coming to America."
Ricky will begin filming the forthcoming show in Toronto in April but it’s not known if it’ll eventually hit UK screens.
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time the 34-year-old hunk has tried to crack the international market as he also made waves stateside when he starred in ‘Mistresses’ in 2014.
He has also had a recurring role in post-apocalyptic drama ‘The 100’, in which he plays Lincoln, for the last two years.
