Ricky Martin: Touring gives kids stability

Ricky Martin insists taking his sons on the road with him gives them stability.
The 45-year-old singer is regularly implored to stop touring for the sake of eight-year-old Matteo and Valentino, but he insists the pleas are unnecessary as his kids are comfortable moving around with him and are doing "great" in their studies.
He said: "They’ve been travelling since they were born because I’ve been on the road ever since, pretty much.
"A lot of people tell me, ‘Rick, but when are you gonna stop [touring], because kids, they need stability?’ [I reply] ‘Stability? I am their stability.’
"If I’m not around, they will feel completely unstable, and they’re doing great.
"We are homeschooling at the moment, but they’re doing great."
And the ‘Livin’ La Vida Loca’ singer – who had his sons via a surrogate – insists his twins are always his first priority because they are his "little lifesavers".
He added on ‘Dr. Oz’: "Everything that I do, every decision that I make is based on them – is based on their well-being.
"That was a commitment that I made when I decided to become a father. And they are a little bit like my religion because, they don’t know it, but they’re like little lifesavers. Because once again, when I have to make a decision, whatever that decision is, I think of them and it turns out to be the right decision."
But Ricky, his sons, and fiance Jwan Yosef, will soon have a more stable base as the singer will kick off his Las Vegas residency at the Park Theater at Monte Carlo Resort and Casino in April, but plans to commute to his concerts as he doesn’t want to uproot his family.
He explained: "Now I live in Los Angeles so I’ll be commuting, so the kids will be pretty stable, which is a good thing."
