Ricky Gervais: I nearly had a breakdown making two movies

Ricky Gervais got stressed out working on two movies at once.
The 54-year-old actor juggled a gruelling schedule making Netflix comedy satire ‘Special Correspondents’ – in which he and Eric Bana play two kidnapped journalists in Iraq – at the same time as writing the script for ‘The David Brent Movie’.
He admits his "ridiculous" schedule left him him exhausted.
Speaking on UK TV show ‘Lorraine’, he shared: "Writing, directing, then starring and then editing a Hollywood movie is a full time job. I did two at the same time, which was ridiculous. I’m never doing it again. I actually thought, ‘I’m going to have a breakdown now.’ I was filming [Special Correspondents] and finishing the script of ‘The David Brent Movie’.
Although he’s been working hard, Gervais is very excited about reprising his role as hapless manager David Brent from sitcom ‘The Office’ – which ran from 2001 to 2003 and which was adapted for American audiences in 2005 – for the movie.
He added: "David Brent is so much fun – being an absolute arrogant idiot. It’s one of my favourite things, that delusional character. Everyone’s got a David Brent in their circle of friends and if you don’t know who it is, it’s you. We all know one."
Gervais – who lives in London with his partner of 32 years, Jane Fallon – won’t let work interrupt his evening schedule of enjoying a daily bath, a bottle of wine and a few hours of TV viewing.
The creature of habit revealed: "When I say I work really hard, I mean I work really hard between the hours of 10 and four – evenings are free. I’m in the bath by half five and the bottle of wine is open at six and then it’s three or four hours of telly. If we get invited out for dinner we both go [sigh]. I say, ‘What time?’ They say, ‘It’s eight o’clock,’ and I say, ‘Don’t be ridiculous, 6.30.’ I sound like an old man!"
‘Special Correspondents’ and ‘The David Brent’ movie are slated for release in April and August respectively.
