Rick Monk has been fired from ‘The Apprentice’.
The quality controller from Lancashire was the fifth wannabe to be axed from the 16th season of the business reality show tonight (31.10.18), but he firmly believes Lord Alan Sugar made a mistake by sacking him, and insists fellow candidate Kurran Pooni should’ve gone instead.
Rick exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I’m devastated to be leaving the process.
"I do feel I had a lot more to give. Unfortunately, you’re not going to see the best of me – I was just warming up to it.
"I definitely think there were other people to go before me.
"I personally believe on this task, Kurran didn’t pull his weight – he could have done a lot more and he could have gone."
Rick believes the law graduate let the team down and caused them to lose this week’s shoe designing task, because he was upset that the team didn’t go with the idea he wanted for their product.
The 33-year-old star said: "On this task, I think because Kurran didn’t have the enthusiasm as we all did – we were going with the sneaker and high heel route and he wanted to do a carnival design – we didn’t get his full support. And we lost the task. He definitely didn’t push himself."
When Rick was asked if his 22-year-old rival had a good chance of winning the show and securing Lord Sugar’s £500,000 investment, he retorted: "No. Not with that attitude … He doesn’t have a hope to win."
The former ‘Apprentice’ hopeful – who has two children with his wife Katie – has moved on from the show and has already planned his next venture.
He said: "My next business plan is to open a chain of children’s play centres."
