Rebekah Vardy tried to take her own life when she was 14.
The 35-year-old WAG – who is married to footballer Jamie Vardy – has revealed she contemplated committing suicide when she was a teenager because the pressures of life became too much for her to handle, but she dealt with her issues by pushing it to the back of her mind until her worries resurfaced when she gave birth to her second child Taylor, six.
Speaking to her camp mates Iain Lee – who has openly battled with mental health issues for years – during last night’s (28.11.17) episode of ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’, she said: "You draw from experience don’t you, I tried it when I was younger this when I was 14. Because when I was that age it was something that was pushed under the carpet and it had such a bad effect on me and I made such horrific decisions in life and I got to a point after I had my second child where it just hit me and it does because you can’t run from it forever and that is what I was doing. I had really bad post natal depression with my second, it’s like Pandora’s box opens and when it opens you have to deal with it."
After she was diagnosed with post-natal depression, Rebekah – who also has daughter Megan, 11, from a previous relationship, as well as Sofia, two, and 10-month-old son Finlay with Jamie – had counselling and underwent some cognitive behavioral therapy.
She explained: "I had CBT therapy which changes your brain’s thought process, I had counselling and I was on anti-depressants for a while and then all of a sudden things just started getting better because you learn to deal with things and you need to talk and talk helps you overcome so many things. It is so different now."
Rebekah’s confession comes just weeks after she took to her Instagram account to reveal she was subjected to years of sexual abuse and domestic violence as a teenager.
