Rebecca Adlington is "best friends" with her estranged husband.
The former Olympic swimmer, 27, announced she and her spouse Harry Needs had split up last month following just 18 months of marriage, but she’s adamant there’s no bad blood between them and they will always share a bond.
She explained: "We are still very much best friends. And it’s not like we’re not talking, because we are – we talk all the time."
And the former couple will continue to remain friends for years to come for the benefit of their nine-month-old daughter Summer.
The blonde beauty explained: "We are both just working hard on trying to be good parents, and our total focus is on our daughter."
The estranged pair – who got married in 2014 – are also determined to do things as a family with their little one while she’s growing up.
Speaking to the Irish Mirror newspaper, Rebecca said: "We are both so sporty so we take her swimming, and I would be very surprised if Summer doesn’t grow up to be very sporty and active. She’s only nine months old but her personality is coming out – she’s already so independent, and knows exactly what she wants to do…"
Rebecca broke the news to fans that she and Harry had called time on their marriage in a post on her Facebook account last month.
She said at the time: "It’s after much thought and sadness that we confirm our separation. It is on amicable terms and we still remain close friends. We move forward with respect for one another and our focus and commitment is on parenting our gorgeous daughter Summer. This will be our only comment on this private matter."
