Queen Elizabeth to celebrate 90th on cruise ship?

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth is reportedly planning to celebrate her 90th birthday with a cruise around the Western Isles.

The 89-year-old royal is set to hit the big milestone next April and is keen to jump onboard the Hebridean Princess – the ship she used to celebrate her 80th – on July 30 in Invergordon and finish up Scrabster, Scotland, 10 days later.

However, a royal spokesman refused to confirm or deny whether the monarch had booked out the cruise.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman told Aberdeen Press and Journals newspaper: "We would not comment on the private time of the Queen or members of the royal family."

Meanwhile, Elizabeth became Britain’s longest-reigning monarch two months ago after she surpass her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria, who served the country for 63 years and seven months.

Acknowledging her record-breaking reign, the queen admitted: "It is one to which I have never aspired".

But she added: "Inevitably a long life can pass by many milestones – my own is no exception – but I thank you all and the many others at home and overseas for your touching messages of great kindness."

The exact moment the royal passed Victoria’s milestone is not known as there is no precise time of death for her father, George VI – who died in the early hours of February 6 1952.
