Queen Elizabeth has recognised a number of sports stars in her New Year honours list.
The British royal has knighted tennis star Andy Murray and distance runner Mo Farah and given a Damehood to heptathlete Jessica Ennis-Hill.
Mo said: "I am so happy to be awarded this incredible honour from the country that has been my home since I moved here at the age of eight. Looking back at the boy who arrived here from Somalia, not speaking any English, I could never have imagined where I would be today – it is a dream come true."
Katherine Grainger has been made a dame for services to rowing and charity and said: "What is lovely when you hear the titles and the names of the New Year honours list, if anything it makes you feel you have to step up again. It is something to live up to – it is almost like a new standard.
"The honour is for sport, but also for charity, and I think that it is lovely that a lot of athletes have been able to give a lot back, and it is some of the areas I will probably go into when I move into other worlds and be able to do more charity work."
Fashion designer Victoria Beckham also received an OBE for her services to fashion and charity, while US Vogue editor Anna Wintour will become a dame in the diplomatic and overseas list for her work in fashion and journalism.
Anna said: "I am very touched to be honoured by a country I care about so deeply."
