Queen Elizabeth only owns one TV

Queen Elizabeth only owns one television, according to her son Prince Charles.

On his recent trip to Northern Ireland, the Prince of Wales was asked how many TVs his mother owned by a curious schoolboy, to which he replied: “One I think. And maybe one or two elsewhere as well, you never know.”

The 72-year-old royal’s revelation might come as a surprise because Queen Elizabeth resides at six properties over the year; Buckingham Palace in London, Hillsborough Castle in Ireland, Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, Balmoral Castle and Holyrood Palace which are both in Scotland, as well as Windsor Castle. The monarch is a fan of shows ‘Downton Abbey’ and UK soap opera ‘Coronation Street’ and she has even been rumoured to have watched Netflix show ‘The Crown’, which depicts the history of her life and that of the British royal family.

If she does indeed only own one television the queen wouldn’t be the only member of the royal family to be content to live by modest means.

Earlier this year, a photo of her daughter Princess Anne’s living room was posted on social media, which prompted people to comment on how “normal” it looked.

A tweet from the royal family’s official account accompanied by a picture of Princess Anne and husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence watching rugby, was captioned: “As @Scotlandteam’s Patron, The Princess Royal often supports the team from the stands.

“HRH and Vice Admiral Sir Tim cheered Scotland on from home today as they played England for the Calcutta Cup, 150 years since their first match. Well played, Scotland! #ENGvSCO.”

One Twitter user commented: “Looks normal to me. It’s not an art gallery, it’s her home. Princess Anne probably has more formal rooms for formal occasions; watching TV is not one of them.”

While another user said: “I’m feeling quite at home with it. Love a pile of books very comforting.”
