Queen Elizabeth attended cousin’s funeral

Queen Elizabeth attended her cousin’s funeral on Monday (12.12.16).
The 90-year-old monarch and her husband Prince Philip – who rarely attend funerals except for the royal family – joined mourners, including the Earl and Countess of Wessex and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester at the Royal Chapel of All Saints in Windsor Great Park yesterday to say goodbye to Margaret Rhodes.
The monarch, who was dressed all in black, was close friends with Mrs. Rhodes and was spotted gathering with her family before the private funeral service.
Mrs. Rhodes’ funeral comes a year after the queen attended the service for her corgi keeper Nancy Fenwick, who looked after her dogs, at the same chapel.
Mrs. Rhodes – who played with the queen as a child – sadly passed away at the age of 91 on November 25 following a short battle with an illness.
Despite the many decades passing, Mrs. Rhodes and the monarch have remained close friends and they regularly visited one another when they had spare time.
Speaking in 2006, Mrs. Rhodes described how she and the queen used to pretend they were horses when they were youngsters.
She said at the time: "We were circus horses, or riding ponies or anything you like but it involved a lot of neighing, and cantering and galloping."
