Princess Eugenie absent from Palace engagement

Princess Eugenie was absent for a scheduled engagement at Buckingham Palace last night (18.10.16).
The 28-year-old was set to attend a reception for the Olympians and Paralympians who won medals at the Rio 2016 Games this summer, but she pulled out of the event.
It is not yet known why Eugenie wasn’t in attendance, with aides not disclosing the reason of her absence.
But several royals were at the event, including Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, as well as Prince William, Prince Harry and Duchess Catherine.
The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and The Duke of Kent also spoke to Olympians and Paralympians at the reception.
Eugenie’s absence from Buckingham Palace comes a month after she and her boyfriend, Jack Brooksbank, flew to Queen Elizabeth’s Scottish residence, Balmoral, to ask for the queen’s blessing for their engagement.
The loved up couple spent two days at the monarch’s Balmoral Castle because Eugenie’s cousin Prince Harry was hosting a shooting party to celebrate his 32nd birthday.
Jack is thought to have used the time wisely to ask Eugenie’s grandmother for her approval.
An insider said at the time: "You could call this weekend a rite of passage for Jack. There is no way he would be invited to stay with the Queen unless he was being welcomed into the royal fold and the bosom of the family."
