Princess Anne attends HMS Victory charity lunch

Britain’s Princess Anne attended a charity lunch in New York in support of the HMS Victory ship yesterday (03.11.15).

The 65-year-old royal, who is the patron of the museum, was asked to join the special meal hosted by the American Friends of the National Museum of the Royal Navy, a not‐for‐profit organisation that furthers the special relationship between the British and American navies, in celebration of the world’s most iconic warship.

David W. Fleming, Founding President of the AFNMRN, said: "We are thrilled to welcome Her Royal Highness as guest of honour. There is a very special relationship and shared respect between our two navies, past and present."

The Princess – the daughter of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip – tucked into the lavish meal on board Cunard’s flagship ocean liner Queen Mary 2 while discussing ways to protect the future of the HMS Victory.

All proceeds from the event, which was hosted by Cunard, will go towards the conservation of HMS Victory.

Angus Struthers, Cunard’s Director, added: "Cunard’s relationship with the Royal Navy dates back to the company’s inception in 1840 and throughout time Cunard has played an integral role in both the US and UK’s war efforts. We are honoured and thrilled to be able to join forces today with the National Museum of the Royal Navy and be a part of the efforts to preserve HMS Victory."
