Prince Philip makes first outing since hospitalisation

Prince Philip has made his first public outing since being released from hospital.
The 96-year-old royal was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in London last Tuesday (20.06.17) as a "precautionary measure" after an infection related to a "pre-existing condition" re-surfaced.
But after being released from hospital on Thursday (22.06.17), the Duke of Edinburgh accompanied his wife Queen Elizabeth to a Guard’s Polo event on Sunday (25.06.17), where he was spotted presenting prizes to the winners of a carriage driving competition.
Despite being well enough to attend the polo event, it was revealed during his stay at the London hospital that the royal would not be attending his scheduled appearance at London Zoo on Wednesday (28.06.17) as he continued to recuperate.
Prince Philip was due to visit the attraction in his role as an honorary fellow of the Zoological Society of London, to present the Prince Philip Award for Contributions to Zoology.
It comes after Philip was said to be in "good spirits" during his time in hospital.
A statement released by Buckingham Palace at the time said: "The Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in London last night, as a precautionary measure, for treatment of an infection arising from a pre-existing condition.
"Prince Philip is in good spirits and is disappointed to be missing the State Opening of Parliament and Royal Ascot."
The 96-year-old royal’s illness meant he was unable to make the official opening that marks the new Parliament’s session, but his son Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, accompanied the Queen in his place.
The statement added: "The Prince of Wales will accompany The Queen to the State Opening. Her Majesty is being kept informed and will attend Royal Ascot as planned this afternoon."
