Prince Harry to wear wedding band

Prince Harry will break royal tradition by wearing a wedding band.
The 33-year-old prince will tie the knot with his partner Meghan Markle, 36, at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, Windsor, on Saturday (19.05.18) and, unlike his grandfather Prince Philip and his brother Prince William, has decided to wear a ring.
Kensington Palace confirmed that there will be the exchanging of rings in the ceremony as part of the service order they released online on Friday (18.05.18).
However, when his older sibling wed Duchess Catherine in 2011, the Palace said at the time that there would only be "one ring in accordance with the couple’s wishes."
His grandfather also decided against the piece of jewellery when he married Queen Elizabeth in 1947, whereas his father Charles wore a ring after both his marriages.
Harry’s decision to wear the jewel – which is a symbol of infinity – doesn’t come as too much of a surprise as his wedding has already broken numerous royal traditions.
Jeweller Igal Dahan told Esquire magazine recently: "If Prince Harry decides to wear a ring, the reason will be because of preference, not tradition.
"If Prince Harry were to wear a wedding ring, it wouldn’t surprise me. The significance of him wearing one would be beyond a statement. It would send a message and prove once again that this prince doesn’t follow the rules."
Meanwhile, Prince Charles will walk Meghan down the aisle after her father, Thomas Markle, withdrew from attending the ceremony after undergoing heart surgery.
Kensington Palace confirmed in a statement: "Ms. Meghan Markle has asked His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales to accompany her down the aisle of the Quire of St George’s Chapel on her Wedding Day. The Prince of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms. Markle to The Royal Family in this way."
