Prince Harry: ‘Ten years in the army taught me about sleeping rough’

Prince Harry believes 10 years in the army has taught him about "sleeping rough".
The 32-year-old royal – who signed up to serve in the British in 2005 where he remained for one decade – has admitted he is used to sleeping in a variety of uncomfortable places and has thanked his time in the forces for preparing him for his ability to adapt when he jets to Africa to work with endangered elephants.
Speaking about the life skills he acquired to Town and Country magazine, the flame-haired star – who is a patron of Sentebale – said: "Ten years in the army taught me about sleeping rough.
"Although, of course, this is total luxury in comparison."
And Harry – who is currently dating ‘Suits’ actress Meghan Markle – has revealed he "loves" his time in Africa and enjoys "chewing the fat" and discussing matters around the fire with fellow workers.
He explained: "I love spending time with these guys.
"Night after night, chewing the fat around the fire, about the pros and cons of the legalization of rhino horn, or the historic migratory paths of elephants, or the population explosion on the African continent. And also conservation back home, which is hugely important.
"I do worry. I think everyone should worry. We need to look after them, because otherwise our children will not have a chance to see what we have seen. This is God’s test: If we can’t save some animals in a wilderness area, what else can’t we do?"
And Harry has admitted he doesn’t jet across the globe to sight-see and enjoy safari rides, but to "support" the country.
He said: "I don’t go on safari.
"I come so I can surround myself with people [working in conservation] and support them."
