Prince Harry reportedly drove "100 miles" to pick up his girlfriend Meghan Markle for his brother William’s sister-in-law’s wedding reception over the weekend.
The 32-year-old royal was forced to leave Pippa Middleton and her new husband James Matthews’ afternoon celebrations, held in Berkshire, early on Saturday (20.05.17) in order to drive to London to pick up his partner from Kensington Palace.
The flame-haired hunk arrived at the wedding at St Mark’s Church in Englefield with his brother Prince William and his wife Duchess Catherine in the early morning.
After the ceremony, Harry made his way to the Pippa’s parents’ home in Bucklebury for the afternoon celebrations before he headed back to the capital to get Meghan.
It’s not known for sure why the ‘Suits’ actress – who has been dating the prince since last year – wasn’t invited to the wedding but it’s thought she decided to stay away in order not to take the attention away from the bride and her husband as it would have been the first official event she and Harry had attended together as a couple.
Meanwhile, although the 35-year-old star missed out on the main event, the rest of the guests had a fabulous day as they watched Pippa and James get hitched.
Duchess Catherine and Prince William’s young children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, were pageboy and flower girl at the ceremony, while the groom’s reality TV star brother, Spencer Matthews, was best man.
Pippa’s stunning lace dress was designed by Giles Deacon, who revealed the bride was involved in the process.
He said: "She has a great eye, she knew what she wanted. I wanted that ‘how-was-that-done?’ factor. It’s all hand-pieced which is why you don’t actually see a seam. There’s incredible movement. I always loved the dancing scenes in "The Leopard." I know they were all hoop crinolines in the film, but there’s something gorgeous about having that great movement, with the skirt spinning round, keeping its shape."
