Prince Charles set to meet Afghan refugee

Prince Charles is poised to meet an Afghan refugee who hitch-hiked across Europe to make a life in Britain.
The 69-year-old royal is set to greet 16-year-old refugee Baseer Omarkhil Khan – who completed school with the help of the Prince’s Trust – during a royal visit to Leicester.
Baseer arrived in the UK when he was just 11 and was unable to speak any English, the Leicester Mercury reports.
However, after settling with a foster family in Leicester, Baseer’s life has been totally transformed and he is now studying motor mechanics at the City of Leicester College.
The royal visit will also see Charles hear about the efforts that are being made to ensure there is more trust between the armed forces and faith groups, while he is set to greet volunteers who have helped to restore the Victorian Mountsorrel Railway, too.
Earlier this month, meanwhile, a report revealed 52 percent of the British public would prefer to see Prince William succeed Queen Elizabeth rather than Prince Charles.
The poll, conducted by Opinium Research, found that just 27 percent of people would like to see Prince Charles become the King.
What’s more, the research revealed that 65 percent of UK adults still support a hereditary monarchy, while a mere 19 percent of UK adults hope Britain will become a republic.
James Endersby, Managing Director of Opinium Research, said: "The monarchy clearly retains the support of the British public, and our tracker indicates that the institution is as popular now as it ever was.
"However, young people are not as invested as the older generation and this does raise questions about the future of the monarchy after the Queen – will the institution survive without one of history’s most respected sovereigns?"
