Planet Earth returns for charity special

‘Planet Earth’ will return for a one-off Comic Relief special tonight (24.03.17)
The popular nature show will hit television screens during the forthcoming Red Nose Day schedule this evening but fans will be in for a surprise as it won’t be the legendary David Attenborough, who fronted the first series in 2006 and the second impressive installment last year, narrating the charity special as Rob Brydon will be taking over temporarily – and he won’t be taking his new gig seriously at all.
The comedian told The Daily Star newspaper: "These lions are competing in a half marathon. That may look like a giraffe, it’s actually a lion in a novelty giraffe costume."
The wildlife special is just one of the many exclusives oragnisers have bagged for tonight’s televised annual event in the hope of raising money for the charity as most of the cast from the 2003 hit film ‘Love Actually’ will reunite for a one-off short sequel.
Liam Neeson – who portrayed bereaved dad Daniel in the original film – has teased that the script brought a tear to his eye when he first read it earlier this year.
He added: "They’ve all aged, except for me. I’m the only one who looks the same."
Martine McCutcheon – who played Natalie, said: "When I got the message from Richard [Curtis, the director] my heart did a little jump. I was so excited I couldn’t sleep."
And Richard was thrilled so many of the big stars from the movie were available to shoot the mini-movie, which will air for 10 minutes.
He said: "We’ve been delighted and grateful that so many of the cast are around and able to take part – and it’ll certainly be a nostalgic moment getting back together and recreating their characters 14 years later. We hope to make something that’ll be fun – very much in the spirit of the original film and of Red Nose Day – and which we hope will help bring lots of viewers and cash to the Red Nose Day shows."
