Trish Sie has been confirmed as the new director of ‘Pitch Perfect 3’ after Elizabeth Banks dropped out.
When the 42-year-old actress stepped out of the director’s chair, it elicited a lengthy search to try and find someone to replace her.
Now, it has been confirmed that Trish, director of ‘Step Up All In’ – the fifth instalment of the dance franchise – will take the helm of the project.
In a tweet posted by Elizabeth, she wrote: "#PitchPerfect has a new leader – so excited @bigbadtrish is directing #PP3! (sic)"
Trish only has one directing credit to her name, although she has helped both choreograph and conceive music videos for the alternative group OK Go, including ‘Upside Down Inside Out’ and ‘Here It Goes Again’.
The need to find a new director comes after the ‘Hunger Games’ actress dropped out due to parental duties surrounding her two sons Felix, five, and three-year-old Mangus.
Speaking previously, she explained: "My parental responsibilities are the reason why.
"The new schedule butts up against my parental responsibilities in a way I’m not really comfortable with."
However, Elizabeth and her husband Max Handelman will continue to be producers for the franchise, and are still determined to put out the best film they can.
She said: "Development always takes longer than you expect it to. We feel obligated to put out the absolute best next movie; we’ve been developing our asses off."
Having to find a replacement director has set the film back by almost half a year, with the release date now set for December 2017, as opposed to the original July 2017 release date.
The final instalment of the musical franchise will Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson reprise their roles for one final time, alongside Brittany Snow and Hailee Steinfeld.
