Pharrell Williams says recording a song for the ‘Paddington’ soundtrack was a "wonderful opportunity".
The ‘Happy’ hitmaker – who has five-year-old son Rocket with wife Helen Lasichanh – has teamed up with his ‘The Voice’ co-coach Gwen Stefani to record ‘Shine’, which will be released in support of the new family adventure, which is based on Michael Bond’s popular children’s books.
Pharrell said: "What a wonderful opportunity, as a parent, to contribute to something as classic, authentic and generational to all of our lives, as Paddington Bear."
And Gwen – who has previously worked with Pharrell on ‘Hollaback Girl’, ‘Can I Have It Like That’ and ‘Spark the Fire’ – said she was "honoured" to collaborate with the star again and be a part of "Paddington’s next big adventure".
Movie bosses are equally thrilled to have the pair on board for the project and think they have created the perfect track for the adventuring bear, who is voiced by Ben Whishaw.
The Weinstein Company’s Bob Weinstein said: "Pharrell and Gwen are the perfect artistic duo and they truly brought to life the charm that Paddington represents in the terrific song ‘Shine’.
"We are so proud to have them be a part of this classic film."
