Pete Wicks got bitten by a shark while filming ‘Celebrity Island’.
The 29-year-old reality star needed urgent medical attention when the beast lashed out while he was fishing for food on Bear Grylls’ tough show, leaving him bleeding and causing chaos.
A source told The Sun Online: "Pete and the rest of the Islanders were checking their fishing nets when he was attacked by the shark. It just came out of nowhere and bit his hand.
"It was terrifying – there was blood everywhere and everyone was panicking and trying to run out of the water.
"No one knew what was going on, but show medics managed to get him cleaned and bandaged up. He was still wearing the dressing on the plane home."
The ‘Only Way is Essex’ star previously admitted he lost three stone during his five-week stint on the uninhabited Pacific island, and had been "struggling" to put weight back on because he can’t cope with large portions.
He said: "You think you’re going to be able to come back and scoff as much as you want, but you physically can’t.
"I’ve been really struggling ever since. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done, without a doubt.
"It’s not like Big Brother when you’re sat around not doing anything every day.
"We had to do everything – find food, search for water and collect wood – or else we wouldn’t survive.
"It was tough."
Pete was happy to be back from the island to reunite with new girlfriend Shelby Tribble as he admitted it was "tough" to be away so early in their relationship.
However, he insisted their long separation hadn’t caused them any problems and they are "stronger" than ever.
He said: "It’s nice for me to back and have Shelby there waiting for me.
"It was a tough time to be away, so early on in our relationship, but we’re stronger than ever and happy as larry."
