Perrie Edwards: Songwriting is like ‘therapy’

Perrie Edwards says songwriting is "like therapy".
The Little Mix star is in the studio with her bandmates – Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh Anne Pinnock – and has enjoyed "getting things off her chest" whilst penning the tracks for their new album.
She said: "It’s very – and I know we probably said this about the last album – honest. It’s very what’s been happening in the past few months or the past year.
"We’ve been through a lot personally, emotionally and career-wise. Every aspect, we’ve wanted to just get off our chest and the best way to do it is with this album. That’s why we’re loving it so much. It’s like therapy."
And the 23-year-old singer has promised fans their new LP will be a "step up" from their latest album ‘Get Weird’.
She added to Sugarscape.com: "We’re so obsessed with ‘Get Weird’ that it has to be a step up. We were worried when we were making ‘Get Weird’ that we loved it that much we were thinking, ‘How on Earth are we gonna make this better and up our game?’ But I think we’ve managed to. We’ve worked really hard on this album and we’ve had some incredible writers.
"It’s another step from anything we’ve ever done before. It’s a lot more cool-sounding. It’s quite slick, but at the same time it’s kind of like ‘Get Weird’. It’s very Little Mix, that’s all you need to know. Still pop, still fun, a little bit of quirkiness; especially production-wise this time. Some of it’s quite chilled and laidback. You’re in for a treat."
