Perrie Edwards hints at new solo song about former Little Mix bandmate Jesy Nelson

Perrie Edwards has suggested she has a song about former Little Mix bandmate Jesy Nelson on her debut solo album.

The ‘Forget About Us’ singer, 30, and her bandmates – Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 32, and Jade Thirlwall, 31 – lost touch with Jesy, who walked away from the band in 2021, citing her mental health as a factor, and although she hasn’t named her, Perrie has revealed she cries every time she plays the unnamed track about a friendship she mourns the loss of.

She told ‘The Zach Sang Show’: “There’s a friendship that I no longer have. I wrote a song about that. That song – I can’t even listen to it without crying. It is about them and how we didn’t see eye-to-eye. It’s a really sad song. We don’t talk any more.

“They were a big part of my life so it’s sad how it all ended up.”

Asked if she thinks there is any chance of her and then friend making amends, she replied: “I’m open to it. I don’t know if they would be after they hear the song.”

Jesy previously revealed she hadn’t spoken to her bandmates since.

She told The Sun last year: “Being in a girl band, you are a machine going all the time. You don’t have a minute to breathe and take time out if you just need space. That was something I struggled with.

“For me my mental health issues were an ongoing thing while I was in Little Mix.

“I was struggling with my body issues, I was constantly being trolled and I really, really struggled. I was in it for nearly 10 years. I think I was never prepared for what was to come.

“I didn’t have social media or any of that. I was just a barmaid working in Dagenham.”

She stressed she has no “regrets” about quitting the band.

Asked if she sees herself reconnecting with the group – which shot to fame on ‘The X Factor’ in 2011 before going on to sell 60 million records worldwide – she replied: “Never say never, but I honestly wish them the best on their solo journeys now, which is so exciting. That is what is so exciting about all of us.

“We are all musically different. We will all go in our own lane. I’m rooting for all of them. I honestly do wish them all the success as they are all crazy talented.”
