Paula Lane wants to take six months off.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress is bowing out of the long-running soap in a few weeks in order to give birth to her second child and is keen to take half a year off bonding with her baby before she starts looking for acting work again.
She explained: "I’m going to have as much time off as I can. It would be nice to have six months off and then an amazing job to come my way. I’m also mindful not to take the first thing I’m offered – it has to be something very different from ‘Corrie’. "
And, although she’s already got 17-month-old son Arthur with her husband Tom Shaw, the 30-year-old beauty has been leaning on her former co-star Katherine Kelly – who plays her on-screen sister Becky McDonald – for parenting advice.
Speaking of her friend, who has two-year-old daughter Orla with her husband Ryan Clark, Paula told Inside Soap magazine: "Katherine has always been so helpful. We became quite close and, although she’s very busy these days, she’s given me loads of advice – especially about work and being a working mum. It’s the work-life balance that’s very tricky but I’m hoping it might be easier now."
Meanwhile, Paula has spent the past six years of her life portraying Kylie Platt in the show and, although it was her decision to leave, she’s devastated she’s being killed off.
