Paul Young: Teaming with Gary Barlow impressed daughter

Paul Young "impressed" his daughter Levi when Gary Barlow asked him to sing on the ‘Eddie the Eagle’ soundtrack ‘Fly’.
The ‘Every Time You Go Away’ hitmaker was called upon by the Take That star to sing ‘People Like You’ for the biopic – which stars Taron Egerton as British Olympic ski jumper Eddie Edwards and Hugh Jackman as his coach – along with other big artists of the 80s like Marc Almond, Go West, Kim Wilde, Nick Kershaw and Spandau Ballet’s Tony Hadley.
Recalling telling his 29-year-old daughter about the exciting project, he exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Levi was really impressed with me working with Gary Barlow, she thought that was great. The ‘Eddie and the Eagle’ soundtrack went to number one and Gary wrote a song for me, Go West, Kim Wilde, Nick Kershaw… Because he wrote a song for me and I recorded it, she thinks it’s great, that I’m working with artists that are a generation or two after me; she thinks it’s really cool."
The singer – who also has children Layla, 22, and Grady, 20, with his wife Stacey – released his first album in 20 years, entitled ‘Good Thing’ last week.
The LP sees Paul – who also released the single ‘L-O-V-E’ last week – return to the soulful roots and he is keen to go on tour again soon because performing live is his "life".
The ‘Wherever I Lay My Hat (That’s My Home)’ singer said: "I love touring. Where I lay my hat, that’s my home! Touring has been my life. I didn’t even like making records. With Streetband and the Q tips we just went in and played it as though we were on stage."
