Paul Hollywood says there’s no need to change The Great British Bake Off

Paul Hollywood hopes ‘The Great British Bake Off’ is unaffected by the switch to Channel 4.
The 51-year-old TV star has followed the hugely popular programme from the BBC to its new home and Paul has insisted there is no need to change the show’s formula unless its success begins to subside.
Paul – who is the only member of the original presenting team to have made the switch – explained: "’Bake Off’s not broken. If we were in a slump, down to something like eight million viewers, then we’d say we need to change something. But we don’t."
Paul still speaks to his former ‘Bake Off’ co-hosts Mary Berry, Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc via text.
But he admitted there’s more "banter" with the new team, which includes Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding.
Speaking to the Radio Times, Paul said: "We still text each other. I was winding Sue up recently, so there’s still that ribbing going on.
"To be brutally honest, I didn’t really see a lot of them outside ‘Bake Off’. None of us did. But with this team there’s real banter, a good laugh. And we’re all quite strong characters. It’s just great fun."
Meanwhile, Sandi revealed she’s also determined to keep the traditions of the programme in tact, despite ‘Bake Off’ making the move to Channel 4.
She said: "You want to show that everybody has respect for the show.
"You don’t want to break it, because it’s something precious and it’s precious to so many people. I have to say what we’ve made I’m very proud of it."
