Paul Hollywood complained when son got low baking mark

Paul Hollywood complained when his son’s baking got a low mark at school.
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ judge was upset with 14-year-old Josh’s teacher as he didn’t feel she had appreciated the youngster’s skills when creating a quiche.
He said: "Josh knows how to make a loaf of bread, which is much more complicated than whipping up a Victoria sponge. He made a quiche at school recently and his teacher gave him a six out of 10 for it, so I sent him into school the next day with a note that said, ‘How dare you give my son such a low mark. His quiche was worth at least a nine out of 10!’ "
The 50-year-old star is close friends with his ‘Bake Off’ co-judge Mary Berry and enjoys receiving drunken phone calls from the 81-year-old cook.
He said: "We spoke a few days ago. She called me at two o’clock in the morning, drunk.
"We don’t get much chance to see each other as we’re both doing our own thing, but we have a great relationship and we catch up when we can."
Despite his success with baking, Paul initially had more arty ambitions but turned to the kitchen as he realised it would be more profitable.
He told OK! magazine: "My family were bakers but I started off in an art school teaching kids how to make ceramics.
"I knew I would struggle to make money as an artist though, so I decided to move into baking."
