Patsy Palmer jokes about name change

Patsy Palmer wants to change her name to Patsy Palmtree.
The 47-year-old actress’ real moniker is Julie Merkell, which she has been using while living in Malibu, California, but others still refer to her by her stage name so she’s joked she’s planning another change just to confuse matters further.
She said: "In London it was family and close friends [who called me Julie], I was OK with it, Patsy’s my mum’s name but here it’s odd, people from work or know me from home as Patsy, but I’ve already introduced [others] to me, as Julie.
"It’s not that confusing for me, I’m good with it, I’m used to it.
"I might change it all together now – Patsy Palmtree."
The ‘EastEnders’ actress also confirmed she’s in talks for her own reality show.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, she said: "We’re talking a bit and shooting a bit, it’s with an American company, it’s exciting.
"There’s a gap for something light-hearted but if it doesn’t happen then it’s not for me, but we are talking about it. It’ll be great."
Patsy – who has son Charley, 27, from a previous relationship and Fenton, 19, Emilia, 17, and Bertie, nine, with spouse Richard Merkell – admitted relocating to the US five years ago was a "big decision" but she’s thankful they made the movie.
She said: "It is a big decision, it’s been a crazy, crazy journey, we wanted to do something different with our lives, my kids were getting to the age where I had to make the choice and then something came up and my friend was like do you wanna work on this thing. I dunno it was just a journey, I just went with the universe, if you like."
