Patrick Wilson will play the antagonist in ‘Aquaman’.
The 43-year-old actor is set to play the titular character’s evil half-brother Orm Marius – also known as the Ocean Master – in the upcoming DC Comics movie.
Wilson will be playing the super villain to Jason Momoa’s superhero, who is a rival for the throne of Atlantis and capable of wreaking havoc and chaos across both the city, and the ocean as a whole.
Whilst the character of Aquaman himself will be featuring in the upcoming ensemble movie ‘Justice League’ – which sees heroes such as Batman, Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, and Cyborg join forces to defeat super-villain Steppenwolf – the timing of Patrick’s casting makes it unlikely that he will make an appearance.
Wilson will also join previously announced cast members Amber Heard, who plays Mera, the Queen of Atlantis, and Willem Dafoe, who will portray a friend and advisor to Aquaman named Vulko.
Meanwhile, director James Wan recently teased details about the movie.
He said: "I kind of don’t want to give too much away but know this: The spirit that I’m going for is like a classic sort of swashbuckling action adventure, sort of high seas adventure story. It’s ultimately a quest story in the spirit of ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ meets ‘Romancing the Stone.’"
James also revealed the appearance of Aquaman and Mera in ‘Justice League’ will give give the world a hint of what their standalone movie will be like.
He explained: "I think Amber and Jason Momoa, in their moments in ‘Justice League’, are going to give the rest of the world a flavor of what their own standalone movie could be. And that is just scratching the surface of what I plan to do."
‘Aquaman’ will be released by Warner Bros. on October 5, 2018.
