Patrick Hughes will helm the remake of ‘The Raid’.
The ‘Expendables 3′ directer is working on the revamp of the Indonesian martial arts action film, which was originally released in 2011 when it was written and directed by Gareth Evans, according to deadline.com.
The script is being penned by ‘Out Of The Furnace’ writer Brad Ingelsby while original producer XYZ Films is also producing the new version, and Evans is executive producing.
‘The Raid’ received positive reviews from critics following its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and grossed approximately $15M in the global box office.
The film follows the story of officer Rama (Iko Uwais) Sergeant Jaka, and Lieutenant Wahyu as they track down crime lord Tama Riyadi (Ray Sahetapy).
The sequel, titled ‘The Raid 2: Berandal’, is also directed, written and edited by Evans, and will be released later this month.
Uwais reprises his role as Rama as he goes on a mission to identify corrupt politicians and police.
