Paris Hilton has been compared to a "modern day-Marilyn Monroe" by the directors of a new documentary about her life.
The 35-year-old socialite is producing the "unflinching, authorised documentary" with 9.14 Pictures and XYZ Films and directors Don Argott and Sheena Joyce insist their subject is "misunderstood" by the public.
They told the Hollywood Reporter: "Paris Hilton is a modern day-Marilyn Monroe — beautiful, iconised, world famous, shaped by mass media and misunderstood. We are thrilled to work with Paris to explore her complicated relationship with the public, the press and the politics that shape our perception of a modern celebrity."
The untitled documentary will begin filming in Ibiza later this summer and is being introduced to buyers at the Cannes film market this week.
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Paris has split from her Swiss businessman boyfriend Thomas Gross after almost a year of dating.
News of the break-up came as quite a surprise as Paris – who relocated to Europe to be with her boyfriend – has previously described Thomas as her "soulmate".
She said: "Thomas is my soulmate. I’ve never been happier. He doesn’t like fame, he just wants me.
"With my previous boyfriends, I felt there was always an intention, but with him I know it’s all about love."
And she also spoke of her desire to marry and have children with Thomas, who she met at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2015.
She said: "I can’t wait to have kids. I would love to have two or three. I loved growing up with my brothers and sisters so I wouldn’t just want one.
"I’m very traditional though – I’d like to get married before I have children…
"It would be great to have a daughter – to have a mini me – so I can dress her up as me. It’s going to be so much fun."
