M.I.A asks Madonna for $16m to pay NFL

M.I.A has jokingly asked Madonna for $16 million as the NFL step up their legal action for her middle finger salute during their 2012 Super Bowl performance.
The 38-year-old rapper is reportedly being sued for $15.1m in "restitution" on top of the $1.5m they were demanding for breach of contract, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
She tweeted to Madonna yesterday (17.03.14): "ummm ..... can i borrow 16 million ? (sic)"
The NFL claims that the extra $15m covers "the alleged value of public exposure she received by appearing for an approximately two minute segment during Madonna's performance," adding, "The figure is based on what advertisers would have paid for ads during this time."
M.I.A's spokesperson said the claim, "lacks any basis in law, fact, or logic."
They added that the "continued pursuit of this proceeding is transparently an exercise by the NFL intended solely to bully and make an example of Respondents for daring to challenge NFL. (sic)"
M.I.A previously uploaded a video of herself discussing the incident on the phone to an unnamed person, during which she accused the NFL of a "massive display of corporation d*ck-shaking", adding that there were more offensive images on show during the Super Bowl than her flicking her middle finger.

David Tennant, Olivia Colman back to Broadchurch

David Tennant and Olivia Colman will return to 'Broadchurch'.
Jodie Whittaker, who played grieving mother Beth Latimer in the first series of the murder mystery drama, says the two lead stars will both be back for the ITV show's second series - but the rest of the cast have been left in the dark about their future.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "David and Olivia will obviously be in season two. It doesn't shoot for a few months, I think - middle of the summer sometime.
"None of us know if we're in it, or if we're not in it. It was exciting and wonderful to be a part of, I really enjoyed it, so there's no part of me that wouldn't do it if I was asked."
The 32-year-old actress has also defended the upcoming US remake of the drama - titled 'Gracepoint' - which will see David reprise his role as TV detective Alec Hardy.
She explained: "It's exciting that we were in something that did so well that Chris [Chibnall], the writer, has been able to do his project again in a different format. I just think for everyone involved, that's exciting. How exciting to think that a TV series we did has [now] got people like Michael Pena and Nick Nolte and all these extraordinary people in it, doing things that we did but in a different way.
"I find it weird that anyone would not be excited about it. Also for David, it's amazing."
"It's set in a different place, I'm sure it'll be a similar story but [not the same]. I've seen loads of original things and I've seen loads of remakes, and sometimes remakes are better."
Jodie then laughed: "Hopefully it won't be [better]! But it'll just be different."
'The Smoke' will be available on DVD on 14 April and is currently airing on Sky 1 on Thursdays at 9pm.

Miriam O’Reilly slams Julia Bradbury over ageism case

Former 'Countryfile' presenter Miriam O'Reilly has hit out at Julia Bradbury and accused her of "a**e licking".
The 57-year-old TV presenter won an age discrimination case against the BBC after being axed from the popular rural affairs show, but her 43-year-old co-star recently suggested her dismissal in 2009 was due to a format change, and not because of her age.
Julia told The Times newspaper: "With Miriam, the decision certainly wasn't made because she was old. The decision was because they were changing the programme."
An incensed Miriam took to her Twitter account to fire back at Julia - who recently quit her role fronting 'Countryfile' with Matt Baker and John Craven - and blasted the brunette star.
She wrote: "@JuliaBradbury Just seen your mention of me in the Times. You say the decision to drop me from Countryfile was not because I was 'old'.
"So you know better than three judges in a legal case and former BBC [director general] Mark Thompson who accepted the tribunal decision?"
Miriam went on to suggest Julia should familiarise herself with her landmark ageism case against the BBC in case Julia faces similar discrimination in future.
She added: "@JuliaBradbury Before you make ill informed statements I suggest you look at the legal case - one day you might need it. ... Until then good luck with the a**e licking. (sic)"
Miriam won an employment tribunal case against the BBC in 2011 after being axed from 'Countryfile'.
The TV star claims Julia could simply be echoing the sentiments of senior producers on the show, who refuse to accept the tribunal's ruling.
Miriam told the Daily Mail newspaper: "It really is a pathetic thing to say. She has just made herself look rather silly. I think it displays a certain arrogance.
"If she had studied the tribunal judgement, and it is online, she might have a different view. But it was an ill-informed view and not helpful to her or other older women in television. Frankly I feel there was some a**e licking there."

Jennifer Saunders to host Have I Got News for You

Jennifer Saunders will host the first show in the new series of 'Have I Got News for You'.
The 'Absolutely Fabulous' star - who first appeared as a guest on the panel show in 2013 - will join team captains Ian Hislop and Paul Merton when the satirical comedy show returns to BBC One on April 4.
The 55-year-old actress said: "It's thrilling to have worked up the courage to take on 'Have I Got News for You' and I shall pitch myself somewhere safely between Kirsty Young and Kathy Burke."
'Have I Got News for You' returns for its landmark 47th series next month with nine brand new episodes. Further host and guest names are to be announced.
The political comedy is based loosely on the BBC Radio 4 show 'The News Quiz', and has been regularly broadcast since 1990.
Throughout the years a number of stars, including Clare Balding, Jimmy Carr, Eddie Izzard and Marcus Brigstocke, have made multiple appearances on the show.
Last year, the 55-year-old comedienne slammed the BBC for splashing out on expensive lunches and chauffeur-driven journeys, describing the corporation as an "executive-run place for idiots".

Terminator: Genesis has ‘hardcore action’

Arnold Schwarzenegger says 'Terminator: Genesis' has the "same feel" as the second film in the franchise.
The 66-year-old star - who was forced to step down from participating in the films while he was the Governor of California between 2003 and 2011 - returns as the titular cyborg in the latest installment, and insists the movie shares similarities with 'Terminator 2: Judgement Day'.
Talking to collider.com, he said: "The way it reads, it has the same feel of 'Terminator 2'. It's big. There's hardcore action and it has some really great visual effects in there, but not over the top. It's not a Thor type of movie, even though it's the same director. It has good special effects, but just enough to say, "Wow, where did that come from? How did they do that?"
Schwarzenegger is thrilled to reprise the role he first played in 1984's 'The Terminator', and doesn't think there are many opportunities to play the same character time and time again in the film industry.
The hunk added: "I think that it's just so wild to have a franchise that has been around for that long, and then after 30 years, to get asked again to be the only character in a movie that is the same character is unheard of, in movie history. You always switch out, like with James Bond and Batman. They have new characters there. But, not here. That, to me, is an extraordinary situation and a great opportunity."

James Spader is doing ‘unbelievable’ job as Ultron

James Spader is doing an "unbelievable job" as Ultron, says Kevin Feige.
The 54-year-old actor has been cast as the titular villain - a crazed robot who develops a god complex and wants to destroy all of humanity with his incredible powers - in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron', directed by Joss Whedon.
Marvel Studios boss Feige is thrilled with Spader's work and claims the character has got an "extreme personality" in the forthcoming film.
He told Movies.com: "Also our bad guy is great. I think people are going to be very, very excited to see what we're doing with the voice that Joss is bringing to life with James Spader for Ultron.
"We love Ultron from the comics, and have always loved Ultron, and at no point do we want him to just be a robot. We want him to have an extreme personality and attitude, and James Spader is doing an unbelievable job."
Feige is hoping to keep fans on the edge of their seats while they watch 'Avengers: Age of Ultron', which is due for a 2015 release.
He added: "Again, for us it's always about subverting expectations. Whenever you think you know what's coming next, we surprise people or deliver it in a slightly unexpected way. And Spader is doing that with Mr. Ultron."

Chris Evans: Public need a hero

Chris Evans insists it's important to have a patriotic superhero to admire.
The 32-year-old actor - who plays the titular superhero in forthcoming 'Captain America: The Winter's Soldier' - admits the public need a leader to "aspire" to whether or not the world is in "chaos".
Evans told FOX411: "It's always important to have strong patriotic characters, whether we have chaos in the world or not.
"It is someone to look up to. And it's not only in terms of America, (everywhere needs a) hero and someone to aspire to."
Samuel L. Jackson - who plays director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Nick Fury - hopes viewers will reflect on how society has changed since Captain America was created in 1941, a time when "freedom meant something different".
Jackson added: "We always need someone to represent the ideal we have ... Freedom, righteousness. And his ideals are from a time when freedom meant something different. The government stood for something that everybody respected and felt protected by.
"So for him to espouse those ideals in this particular time, and to find out that those ideals don't mean holding a gun to people who you are supposed to be protecting, it means a lot. And it should resonate with this audience and hopefully they will go home and think about that."

Sarah Harding uses special honey to protect voice

Sarah Harding uses luxury honey to keep her voice in top shape.
The 32-year-old pop star relies on a special mixture of £10-a-jar Manuka honey, hot water, lemon and ginger to protect her vocals when she is recording material and is touring.
Talking to BANG Showbiz, she said: "I usually drink hot water and lemon with a bit of Manuka honey and juiced root ginger. It usually works."
The special honey - which is made by bees from the nectar of the Manuka tree - is the same brand Lady Gaga uses to preserve her vocal cords.
Sarah is now pursuing a solo career following Girls Aloud's split last year, and revealed her boyfriend DJ Mark Foster has produced a "couple" of songs for her, although they sometimes clash when they're working together.
The blonde beauty - who is performing live at Kensington Palace on Thursday (20.03.14) in aid of Street Child (Street-child.co.uk) - explained: "He's produced a couple of tracks for me but he's a busy boy with his own stuff.
"Sometimes [it's] stressful [working with Mark]. We do have conflicts of interests at times! "
Although Sarah would love to do some more acting in the future, she is completely focused on her new music at the moment.
The singer - who is also performing a showcase gig at the O2 Academy Islington on March 26 - added: "It's [acting] something I'd love to do more of in the future, but right now my full focus is on music."

Kate Winslet explains son’s name

Kate Winslet's son is named in honour of the fire she escaped in 2011.
The 'Divergent' actress met her now-husband Ned Rocknroll when they fled a fire on his uncle Sir Richard Branson's Necker Island two years ago, so their little boy Bear Blaze was given a middle name to remind them of the incident.
Kate said: "Bear's second name is Blaze because my husband and I met in a house fire basically. Well, we did!
"The house burned down and we survived. But we wanted something of the fire and so Blaze was the name that we came up with."
Kate - who also has children Mia, 13, and Joe, 10, from previous relationships - chose three-month-old Bear's name early in her pregnancy and he is named after one of her old friends.
She explained to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres: "When I was pregnant with Mia and Joe, I didn't name them before they came out because I always felt like I just have to see them and see who they're going to be.
"But of course, this time around there's Mia and Joe and the whole pregnancy is about 'what are we gonna call the baby?' So it was really lovely, actually. They were very much included and we settled on Bear quite early on.
"A friend of mine when I was younger was nicknamed Bear and I just had always really loved it. And he was very much a bear. He was everyone's shoulder to cry on. He was a big bear hug, he was a great figure in my life, and I just had always remembered him and so that's where it came from."
The 'Labor Day' actress was also asked why her new baby didn't take the surname of his father, who was born Abel Smith but changed his name several years ago.
She smiled and said: "Why do you think, Ellen?"

L’Wren Scott’s social media pages removed

L'Wren Scott's social media profiles have been taken down.
The late 49-year-old fashion designer's accounts on twitter, Facebook and Instagram have been removed following outrage when the pages continued to update after she was found hanged in an apparent suicide at her New York apartment yesterday (17.03.14).
Scheduled messages, including a picture of a tree, posted to her accounts an hour after L'Wren's assistant found body, prompting her social media team to be branded "insensitive" and "disrespectful" for not blocking the updates.
It has been claimed that L'Wren - the long-term partner of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger - was almost $6 million in debt when she died.
According to accounts for her business, LS Fashion LTD, which were filed in the UK in October 2013, the company was in trouble, with a deficit of $5,899,000 and the designer owing creditors $7,641,000.
Friends had also been worried about the former model - who reportedly refused offers of financial help from Mick - in recent weeks, as she had been "acting strangely" and not answering phone calls.
One source said: "They've known that something was going on, and it's been going on for at least a week."

Melissa George’s ‘great’ three day labour

Melissa George was in labour for three days with son Raphaël.
The 'Good Wife' actress and her boyfriend Jean-David Blanc welcomed their son into the world on February 6, and although she was having contractions "every five to eight minutes" for 72 hours, she insists she had a "great time" waiting for the new arrival.
She told HELLO! magazine: "I was in labour for three days, around the clock, with contractions every five to eight minutes.
"I had a great time walking up and down the halls and going from the bath to the shower, to the balloon balls. I had the bar by the head to hold on to so I could squat and let gravity do its work."
Although Melissa was in hospital for eight days, she enjoyed the experience since she shared it with a friend who was going through the same thing.
She added: "We had a great time because a very good friend went into labour two days after me. She was next door to me so all our friends in Paris could visit both of us."
