Countess of Wessex visits St Thomas Hospital

Britain's Countess of Wessex visited St. Thomas Hospital yesterday (12.02.14).
The 49-year-old royal - who is married to Queen Elizabeth's youngest son Prince Edward - stopped by the DEBRA clinic, which treats patients with a rare condition that causes their skin to break and blister at the slightest touch, at the hospital in Westminster, London.
During the visit, Sophie - who is a patron of DEBRA - met patients and staff in the Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) unit, before being given a tour of the National EB Laboratory, which is the only lab in the UK that can diagnose all forms of the condition.
Henry George, 20, who was diagnosed with the condition when he was just a few days old, gave The Countess a bouquet of flowers upon her arrival.
He said: "It was great to meet The Countess, and brilliant that she is supporting DEBRA so they can continue their vital work.
"I am extremely grateful to the specialist EB nurses and the rest of the EB medical team for enabling me to live as normal a life as possible. Because of their expertise, they are helping me to achieve my goals, get on with life and look positively to the future."
Dr Jemma Mellerio, consultant dermatologist at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, said: "It's been an honour to have Her Royal Highness visiting our clinic today. We hope we've given her a real insight into the pioneering work we are doing to help our patients.
"We're very lucky to have such a strong relationship with DEBRA. Their funding enables us to carry out pioneering research and provide the best care to our patients."

Cliff Richard and Tom Jones support Morrisey’s US tour

Sir Cliff Richard and Sir Tom Jones are to support Morrissey on his US tour.
The 54-year-old singer has announced he will perform two dates at two huge arenas in Los Angeles and Brooklyn this year, and will be supported by the veteran performers.
The former Smiths frontman will take to the stage with Sir Tom and Missouri singer Kristeen Young on 10 May at Los Angeles Sports Arena, before performing with Sir Cliff and Kristeen on 21 June at New York's Barclays Center.
The Welsh singer, 73, took to his official Facebook page earlier today to confirm the news.
He wrote: I will be Morrissey Official's special guest at his show at the LA Sports Arena on May 10th. We hope to see you there! (sic)".
These are the first confirmed shows for Morrissey after he abandoned a series of tours last year due to lack of funding and a bout of sickness.
Meanwhile, Morrissey, who has been without a label since 2009, recently signed a deal with Universal Music's American-based Harvest Records to release his tenth studio album.
The album is due to be released in the second half of 2014.

Sarah Harding has ‘controversial’ solo album

Sarah Harding believes her solo album will be "controversial".
The former Girls Aloud singer has been working on her own material following the split of the band last March and she insists her upcoming music will be "honest" and have an "edge" to it.
She told The Sun newspaper: "The odd swear word doesn't harm anyone, does it? I love pop, but with an edge so that's what I'd say my music is. And quite controversial."
She added: "My songs are very confessional and honest. You have to be able to relate to what you're singing otherwise you're just a mannequin. That's not at all what I felt in Girls Aloud, but obviously it's different in a band."
The 32-year-old star - who checked into rehab in 2011 for depression, alcohol addiction and prescription drug abuse - has enlisted her boyfriend Mark Foster - who she has known for 17 years - to help produce the tracks after he came back into her life last year.
She explained: "I really can't wait for people to hear the music, I think they'll be surprised. I didn't write it all my myself, but I definitely had more input, which felt good."
The blonde beauty admits her former band mates, Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts, Cheryl Cole and Nadine Coyle, are yet to hear her new album, but insists she's still in contact with all of them.

Alison Goldfrapp wants to inspire ’emotional journeys’

Alison Goldfrapp wants to take her fans on an "emotional journey".
The Goldfrapp singer has produced a short film inspired by her latest album 'Tales of Us' and says working on music and film both come from a desire to "create narrative and atmosphere".
She said: "For me personally, they both come from a similar desire to create narrative and atmosphere, and to take the listener/viewer on an emotional journey.
"I have always been a huge fan of film and it's often had an influence on the music we've written, particularly for the latest Goldfrapp album 'Tales Of Us'."
Alison says the record was influenced by several novels she was reading during the writing process, as well as the movies she was watching.
She said: "The inspiration came from reading lots of noir-style novels, from authors like Patricia Highsmith and Dorothy B Parker. Also, the novel 'Annabel' by Kathleen Winter.
"I love to watch film too so visually and musically both these mediums had a huge influence on this particular album. I was interested in the central characters in these books and films. This inspired naming each track on the album by the person's first name."
Alison will be at the BFI in London tonight (13.02.14) as part of the BFI Screen Epiphany, where she will introduce and premiere her new short film inspired by 'Tales of Us'.The BFI Screen Epiphanies in partnership with American Express showcase inspirational films hosted by a prominent figure from the arts and culture community.

Scarlett Johansson to have Black Widow movie?

Marvel Studios are planning a movie based on Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow character.
The 29-year-old actress first portrayed the popular Marvel comic book character - who is also known as Natasha Romanoff - in 2010's 'Iron Man 2' before reprising her role in 2012's 'The Avengers', and is once again set to hit the big screen as the superhero in 'Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier' and 'The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron'.
President Kevin Feige confirmed the prospect of a solo film since audiences still have more to learn about Johansson's alter-ego.
Talking to Total Film magazine about the forthcoming films which feature Black Widow, he said: "We learn more about her past and learn more about where she came from and how she became in that film.
"The notion of exploring that even further in her own film would be great, and we have some development work with that."
Johansson thinks a Black Widow film would be "totally awesome" and insists it would be different to the other comic book films which have already been released.
The Hollywood beauty previously said: "I personally think there's an awesome Black Widow movie in there. A kind of 'Bourne' film that would take the whole comic book genre in a completely different direction. It'd be awesome.
"I've spoken to Marvel about it and Kevin Feige, and there's so much story to draw from, I think it'd be totally awesome."

David Jason attends Roger Lloyd-Pack funeral

Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst were among the mourners at Roger Lloyd-Pack's funeral today (13.02.14).
The 'Only Fools and Horses' stars paid tribute to their late co-star - best known for playing Trigger in the hit sitcom - who died last month following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Many of Roger's friends and family joined his actress daughter Emily Lloyd at the funeral, which took place at St Paul's Church in Covent Garden, London.
David and Nicholas - who played Del Boy and Rodney in the classic show - were joined by fellow 'Only Fools and Horses' stars John Challis, who played Boycie, Sue Holderness, who played Marlene Boyce, and Paul Barber, best known for playing Denzil.
Roger's pals Kathy Burke and Nigel Havers were also among the mourners who paid their respects.
The late star's coffin was brought to the north London service in a pink hearse.
David, 74, previously paid tribute to his popular co-star, saying: "I was very saddened to hear of Roger's passing. He was a very quiet, kind and unassuming actor who was a pleasure to work with.
"Although he played the simple soul of Trigger in 'Only Fools and Horses', he was a very intelligent man and a very fine actor capable of many roles. I shall remember him with fondness and for all the good times we had together."

Splash! Keith Duffy: Perri is ‘too good’

Keith Duffy hopes Perri Kiely is too ill to compete in the 'Splash!' final this weekend.
The Boyzone singer has joked that the Diversity dancer, who is feeling under the weather ahead of the diving competition's grand finale on Saturday (15.02.14), is such huge competition he hopes he isn't able to take part.
He quipped on ITV's 'Lorraine' today (13.02.14): "Hopefully he stays kind of ill, he's too good!"
Keith, 39, is joined in the final by Perri, 'The Only Way is Essex' hunk Dan Osborne and athlete Richard Whitehead, and he feels like he is the "old man" among the finalists.
He said: "I didn't realise that I'd be competing with guys like 18 years younger than me, I'm the old man in the panel!"
The Irish star suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction during his first dive in the competition, when his swimming trunks came down while he was in the water.
Keith thinks his flesh-baring moment could have been the reason for his success so far, however.
He quipped: "My wife wasn't too pleased, I have to say. But you reckon that's the reason I'm [still] here?"
The 'Splash!' final airs on ITV on Saturday and the show's sponsor, Hula Hoops, is celebrating the final episode by giving away a year's supply of the tasty snack to lucky viewers.
If one of the contestants scores a perfect 10 in the final, fans are encouraged to tweet the hashtag #Perfect10 to @HulaHoopsUK. The first 10 people to do so will win the year's supply of Hula Hoops.

Bruce Jenner quits Hollywood

Bruce Jenner wants nothing more to do with Hollywood.
The 64-year-old Olympic gold medallist has reportedly decided to turn his back on fame and his own reality TV show 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' following his split from wife Kris Jenner in October.
The athlete has reluctantly continued to take part in the programme - which is currently shooting its final installment of the series - when necessary and prefers to film his scenes at his home in Malibu, but he is adamant we won't return to the show if it is renewed next season.
Bruce is keen to spend his time playing golf, flying helicopters, riding motorcycles and spending time with his children, Kendall, 18, and Kylie, 16 - who he has with Kris - and Brandon, 32, and Brody, 30, who he has with his ex-wife Linda Thompson .
According to TMZ.com, Bruce wants to try and build the relationship with his sons that he never had as they were growing up and wants his base to be in Malibu rather than Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, the star - who was married to Kris for 22 years - has been trying to embrace the single life, and reportedly underwent a laryngeal shave to reduce the size of his Adam's apple last month, and grew his hair long, in a desperate bid to stay youthful.
A source said previously: "He totally has this 'I may be an old man, but I'm cool and young too' syndrome and no one can tell him otherwise.
"He's a bit lonely, but he's doing his thing. Everything in the end of his marriage just became too much for him and his freedom is really liberating. He wanted to grow his hair long, so he did it. He wants to get manicures, so he gets them."

Will Poulter’s BAFTA family affair

Will Poulter is taking his mother as his date to the BAFTAs.
The 'We're the Millers' actor - who is nominated for the prestigious EE Rising Star Award - will share his special moment at the British Academy Film Awards on Sunday (16.02.14) with his parents and insisted his mum Caroline join him on the red carpet.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz at EE and Esquire magazine's pre-BAFTA bash at London's The Savoy hotel last night (12.02.14), Will said: "My mum is sat next to me. I told my mum she has to be included. I was like, 'You're coming, no two ways about it.' So my mum's coming, and my dad's going to be sat at the back, but they're both going to be there."
The 21-year-old star admits he is "terrified" about his nomination and hasn't even thought about writing an acceptance speech in case he jinxes his chances of winning.
He enthused: "I'm excited about Sunday, looking forward to it very much. I'm excited, obviously, to be nominated for such a prestigious award but I'm terrified as well.
"I have yet to write a speech. I'm worried that will jinx it."
The affable British actor - who is up for the Rising Star Award with Dane DeHaan, Lupita Nyong'o, George MacKay and Lea Seydoux - also revealed he is backing his close pal George, 21, for the win if he doesn't get the prize himself.
He said: "That's so tough! I'm a genuine fan of all of them. George is a very good friend, so it's difficult to choose. Because George is my mate, I have to say George! And he's totally deserving."

Lupita Nyong’o cried over Oscar nod

Lupita Nyong'o "cried" when she learned she had been nominated for an Oscar.
The '12 Years A Slave' actress watched the nominations broadcast on TV with her friends and found it "surreal" when her name was read out in the Best Supporting Actress category.
She said: "I chose to watch it. I had a deliberation with my best friends, we were together here in LA and I chose to watch it because I thought, you know, I want to hear it from the horse's mouth either way.
"I raised my hand up and I just closed my eyes and cried and said thank you, thank you, thank you. It was so surreal to hear my name in that context."
The 30-year-old actress is excited about the forthcoming ceremony, whether she wins the award or not, but is viewing it as the "final celebration" for '12 Years a Slave'.
Speaking on 'Piers Morgan Live', she said: "I am just so grateful and stoked to be going to the Oscars and to be going there with so many other people from this amazing picture that I got to be a part of. I mean it's going to be the final celebration, you know."
