Ozzy Osbourne ‘dying to get out there and play’

Ozzy Osbourne is “dying to get out there and play”, according to Geezer Butler.

The Black Sabbath star, 76, is battling a number of health conditions including Parkinson’s disease and was unable to perform when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year, but his former bandmate Geezer, 75, has revealed the rocker is determined to pull his pals together to put on one last spectacular show.

Speaking to Lifeminute, Geezer explained: “Ozzy was talking to me about, when he does his farewell concert – which he still wants to do – He’s dying to still get out there and play, and he suggested, at his very final concert, for the four of us to get up onstage and maybe do three or four songs together.

“And that would be it, finished.”

He added the show would be a “one-off” and not a full Black Sabbath reunion, adding: “[There will] definitely [be] no more tours.”

Fellow Black Sabbath star Tony Iommi – who has previously battled cancer – recently explained plans for a final gig are still up “in the air”.

Speaking to Guitar World magazine, Tony was asked if a Sabbath concert is on the cards and he replied: “Who knows? You can never say never, and we never have said never. It really depends on everybody’s health and what we’d expect from each other now.

“Can we still play and sound the same together? I don’t know because it’s been such a long time. It’s in the air.

“By the time it comes around, if it ever does, we’ll have to see what state everybody is in and whether we can climb on stage. If we did, it would have to be good otherwise I wouldn’t do it.

“There’s no point in just getting up, what can you prove by doing that? If it’s not right or as good as it was, then there’s no point in doing it. In my eyes, it has to be as good or better.”
