Orange is the New Black’s release date

‘Orange is the New Black’ will return to screens on June 9.
Viewers were left on the edge of their seats last year when series four wrapped up with inmate Daya Diaz (Dascha Polanco) holding a gun to a group of terrified guards after her friend Poussey Washington (Samira Wiley) was brutally suffocated during a riot.
And the fifth installment looks set to be even more explosive judging by the teaser that Netflix – which has aired the show since its start in 2013 – released on Wednesday (08.02.17) evening as it’s yet to be known whether the new mum will pull the trigger.
The trailer shows Alex Vause (Laura Prepon), Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), Nicky Nichols (Natasha Lyonne), Marisol ‘Flaca’ Gonzales (Jackie Cruz), Tasha ‘Taystee’ Jefferson (Danielle Brooks), Lorna Morello (Yael Stone), Cindy Hayes (Adrienne C. Moore), Maria Ruiz (Jessica Pimentel), Galina ‘Red’ Reznikov (Kate Mulgrew) and Gloria Mendoza (Selenis Leyva) staring down at the floor with shock expressions on their faces before the camera shoots back up to Daya with the gun in her hand.
Although she was missing from the teaser, Laverne Cox has confirmed she will return to Litchfield prison for series five as transgender inmate Sophia Burset.
Ruby Rose – who played Stella Carlin – was only meant to feature in the last series but she proved such a hit with viewers that the door has been left open for her return.
The forthcoming installment will consist of 13 episodes and, unlike previous seasons, will be dropped over the course of three days.
Bosses have remained tight-lipped on what’s to come for series five but Danielle Brooks (Taystee) has teased that it will be "war" following Poussey’s brutal murder.
She said recently: "Taystee has nothing to lose, she’s lost everything that she cared so deeply about. It’s time to fight. It will be very detailed, very intense, and you better get ready [for the fifth season]. Get your popcorn, your tissues."
